Hey everybody! New to the site and looking for advice on purchasing a portable gps unit for my new Goldwing. I just purchased a 2010 Goldwing w/ audio and comfort pkg. I am looking at a Garmin Nuvi 2460lmt. Not available yet but will be $299 at gpscity.com. It looks like a nice unit, anyone have any comments or recommendations?

First off welcome from NW. Illinois. I have a Garmin nuvi 550 more or less a plain jane as far as GPS goes, but it's waterproof that's why I chose that one. Use a Ram mount on the handle bars and plug the charger into the cig. lighter socket. Works well for me.

I have a Garmin 660 for 3 years. It's not waterproof, but I carry ziplock bags to put over the unit if it rains. Only problem is occasional glare on the screen. Sits on top of a Ram Mount and plugs into 12v outlet in the front left pocket. The unit also transmits over the FM on the radio, so even if I can't see the screen I can hear the voice commands. It also has Bluetooth so it will sync with my phone and transmit over the radio so I can answer calls while riding.

I use a Garmin NUVI, not motorcycle specific but it works great, If it rains but a baggie over it or remove it. About 1/3 the price of the motor specific units.

I have a garmin 76 Cx which is waterproof with a Ram mount. Mine uses AA batteries and I also use it at work.
