I had the HONOR of riding to Henderson College in Searcy Arkansas this last Thursday for the opening ceremonies for Special Olympics. Our GWRRA chapter meet up and road tp El Paso Arkansas to join up with the Harley crowd and formed a 200 bike Police, sheriff, state trooper escorted convoy to the college. We lined up 100 to each side and stood in front of our bikes and greeted, clapped our hands, high 5'ed, hugged the 2,000 or so Special Olympians as they entered the track and field outdoor complex. Parents of the kids had tears in their eyes thanking us. Talk about the RIGHT thing to do. And to get to see those kids eyes light up..........If that didn't touch your heart, Nothing ever will.
After the kids all were seated in the stands then all 200 bikes make a slow roll around the track. Two of our GWRRA members have sidecars so they Drove the BLUES BROTHERS in also. With Air Force fly overs, news helicopters, high school bands, cheer leaders etc. etc. it made it a very special day for some truly Special Kids.
