Today's weather was too perfect (low 80's late afternoon and blue skies) and SHE & I rode to Murphy, NC, just over the GA line (270 miles RT), to check out the new casino and lunch. We left around 9:30 this morning, taking US61 N to Fairmount, GA, turned onto US 53E to GA 136 to Ellijay and onto US 515N to Blue Ridge, GA, to GA 60 through Mineral Springs, GA, and into Murphy. Absolutely great ride!

The casino was what might be called 'modern mountain' architecture, inviting, but no where near plush; very comfortable, however, lacks in food service: a food court, much like a shopping mall. I liked it! My kind of place!

We had lunch at Earl of Sandwich, walked around the property for a bit, visited the gift shop and then, on our way back home. Got home around 6:00; absolutely great ride!

Looking good there George. Question is: "Was the trunk on the trike big enough to bring home all the money you won?" Nice pictures and looked like you both were having a good time....Isaac

It was a pretty day, way too pretty to be stuck in the office like I was. Glad you got out and about. I've been through north Georgia a couple times and need to go back that way. Thanks for sharing.

Did y'all at least put a quarter into a machine?

No money spent gambling, not even a quarter; just not our thing but like to check the new places out for future lunch run possibilities. Just something new to see and somewhere to ride. We did have a good time and enjoyed seeing the place.

Is this casino in a different location as the other one? Or did they tear that one down?

I've paid for my vacation in winnings at the old one....that was a great day!

Brand new, about 60 miles S of Cherokee on US19/64 and the one in Cherokee is still there. Think this one was built for GA residents, since 90% of the cars had GA plates. Lucky you on the winnings. That would be a great day.

George,
next time please call me to join you ride. I went to Aviation Museum in Warner Robins air force base with my sons boy scouts. It was a nice ride but I;m sure I would of enjoy the ride to north Georgia a lot more.

Dang, Ralph.:Dang:Just figured you were working but will definitely call on the next one, which will be the next good weather day. We're going to Helen, GA, or Dahlonega, for lunch.
