I working on a 1979 GL 1000 which the Cam Drive Gear Bolt came loose and went through the front cover.
Question:
Can the cam belt drive gears be reversed? Front to Rear, rotated 180 degrees?
Reason being:
The cam drive gears have a built in key and it is made into only half the gear, (front half). There is excessive rotation on the crank. If I flip the gears over it installs the key to the rear half on the crank, when I do this I have little to no rotation of the gear on the crank. This tells me that the wear is in the crank shaft.
Thanks
Herman
