I bought a new 2007 Goldwing and bugs build up inside the front speaker grills. I've even had a live butterfly get in when I was on vacation. It later must have gotten out. I did not have this problem with my 1500 wing. Dealer was no help.

Bugs Buggin' You

You may need to pop your speaker covers to get them cleaned out. If something as large as a butterfly got in, they are probably not fully seated. This assembly just snaps in.

If you have a service manual, you need to look at page 3-11 and follow the instructions for removing the Meter Panel.

Basically, you need to carefully remove the ignition switch cover (it pries out).

Then, carefully release the two tabs on each side of your nav or odometer panel. Carefully raise the rear portion of the meter panel and release the two bosses at the bottom of the panel from the grommets.

Next, release the tabs around the speaker grilles. Don't forget that there is a tweeter speaker connector and possibly the multi-display control switch (depending on model). Once these are disconnected, the Meter Panel should lift off with the grilles included.

Now, clean the grilles and reverse the process.

Hope this helps.

He has an 07, the speakers grills do not pop out like on the 01 to 05.
If you run your fingers along the bottom edge of the dash you can feel a big gap where stuff can get up into the speaker grills, You can remove the dash and put foam or something there to seal it off.
The dash has to be removed to get to the speaker grills. But it is easy to do. Here is how you remove the dash on the 06 and newer. \
