I've been told that I'll probably need to replace the rotors on my 1989 GL1500A a year (maybe two) from now to pass state inspection, so I've been looking to find them. Currently, the rear is 7mm; the L-front is 5.5mm and the R-front is 6.5mm as measured tonight w/my micrometer.

Honda no longer makes the Left front rotor, which does have a dif part# than the right side. And for those places that may have them, they're going for over $300ea. EBC makes rear and front replacement rotors, but uses the same part for the L/R front. total cost for all 3 is about $600 shipped. Anybody replace their 88-89 with the EBCs?

They show 2 different numbers and 2 different prices for the front and 3 different numbers for the rear. I would think maybe they astill are available.

The xxx-MN5-xxx parts have been superceded and the R-fr is 45251-MT2-003 and L-fr is 45351-MT2-003 and for places that supposedly have the L-fr, they want $400+, but the fiche has made it clear that Honda no longer makes it. The EBC's seem an OK deal, but my L-fr is a 5.5mm and is good until 5mm, so i have a little time. thanks for taking the tie to look them up; I'll check Ron Ayers when it comes time.

Thanks,
greg

88-89 Rear Brake Rotor

Just about a month or two I bought a new rear brake rotor on E-Bay for my '88 Goldwing, shipped to my door in Missouri from China for pennies under $100.00 US. It's stainless as was the original, I believe, and although I didn't check it seemed to be just slightly thinner than the original. Also has a different cutout pattern in the working part of the rotor where the pads contact.

That said, it fits and operates perfectly, and cured a long time "click" that was occurring from the rear of the bike. I highly recommend you do a search!
