Mother Honda does what they do for a reason, doesn't mean we can't modify it! Ordered and installed the Show Chrome brake light conversion wire harness that makes the lower marker light to work also as a brake light. Easy enough to do, took more time to remove and replace than to run the wires. I've said before the wing has the best rear lighting of any bike out there, this makes it even better. If you can't see this in front of you, you need to stop driving!

The trunk box and lower middle are markers, the spoiler light is not lit until the brakes are applied, the photo is with brakes applied.

Glad to hear that, whacker! If those had been your running lights only then you'd leave a trail of destruction when braking at night!

More is better. Did a similar mod on my 08. On the trunk lights, only the two outer ones lit up as brake lights. Someone discovered that the inner ones had the same dual filament bulbs and connector, just not wired. So with a little splice and connector pin all four illuminate on braking. Shown here without brakes applied.

Making the assumption you mean the trunk lid spoiler which contains a "high level stop lamp". The OEM is plug and play and does come w/instructions.
However, since it is imported and the Honda unit is expensive, suggest you try: http://www.ebay.com/itm/GL1800-Trun...9185&pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&vxp=mtr this is also imported, hence the suggestion to look at it also.
There are also several versions of the lamp that have different functions besides just being a stop lamp!
