I have a 2005 Wing. Does anyone know if the heavier duty 2006 and up alternator will fit in a 2005?

Not that I need one now, but for a possible future upgrade.

Not sure that the '06 and newer models have all that much more output than the '01-'05 did. They are rated marginally higher (.2 kw) but at 5000 rpm and not 2400 like the earlier ones were. They may be more efficient however, with less resistance to them; but again the differences are marginal.

Compufire now makes a high output alternator for the GL1800, as well as the 1500.

If that's the only difference, I'll only do the swap if I begin to have issues with the current alternator. Thanks for the info.

Compufire says alternator fits 01-12. 01-10 puts out 78amp stock. 10-12 puts out 110 amp. compufire is 80 amp.
