I just picked up a 98 GL1500 in a lien sale. The place I got it tried to drill out the ignition to get the handlebars unlocked. They ruined it but still didn't get them loose. How big a deal is it to replace the ignition and other locks so they'll all match?
Second question: This bike has been sitting for 18 months. What else would you recomend I do to it prior to riding it?

Not that big a deal about $105.00

but to replace all the lock could run into a few dollars My advice is to change the ignition and see if you can find a locksmith to rekey the other locks on the bike to match. Or just have 2 different keys, then you don't have to remove the ignition key when you want to fill up with gas or open a fairing compartment. Or you could make a key and leave it in the gas filler flap like I did. I used a chrome acorn nut but several people are using radio knobs also.
