Just added an 89 GL1500 to my bike stable, started riding dirtbikes when I was 10. The bike hadn't been ridden in a couple of years, and am getting it ready to go. Forum's have been great sources of info. I've read about air pressure in the front forks, but I can't find a valve of any kind. I can't find any messages that specifically talk about an 89. Does this bike have air adjustable forks?

I'm a fairly large guy, and front end of this thing dives like crazy compared to my other bikes. I plan on getting progressive springs and a fork brace, but thought proper air might help until then.

thanks

I don't think the front forks had the air option until 92 on the SE model. It it does than on the top of each fork you see a cap that you can unscrew and the air valve will be underneath that.
Unscrew #31 and the valve is 332

If you want to beef up your front suapension you might try progressive front springs and a heaver weight fork oil.

i don't think the forks call for more than 6 pounds of air
