Bike acts and sounds like a dead battery yet a voltage meter check shows a good battery.

All of the lights owrk as does the radio yet when trying to start the bike it acts just like a dead battery. Note the fuseable link system appears VERY well aged and kind of nasty.

Any suggestions?

Replace the fuseable link, it's probably the main trouble maker.

Fuseable link system? Fuses, yes; but fusible links? Where are they? Why are they there?

Trike Lady, thanks I will try it.

Kevin, I am only providing the term utilized by Clymer Honda GL1200 1984-1987 on page 194 figure 5. Believe me I have no clue other than what this manual identifies. :)

I'm betting on the fuse. also check to be sure your leads to the starter are good.

I replaced the commonknowledge starter solenoid, Clymer identified fuseable link system and the bike runs like new.

Thanks all,
