Make sure the stator is hard wired. Check staor output. Wonder why someone would pay money for a Gold Wing and only ride 2,900 miles in 39 years.

He is referring to the white connector on the lower left side of the bike, about where your lower leg is when seated. It has 3 yellow wires both in and out of the connector. These get loose and burn, causing a discoloration to the white connector and resistance to the connectors. All of this causes the stator to over heat and fail. Engine removal is required to repair. It was enough of a deal back in the day, that folks engineered a way to put a very small car alternator on it. The OEM stator will last if it isn’t overheated. Added lighting was all incandescent bulbs, back in the day and strained the charging system immensely. LED’s will help avoid that now. Hard wiring (soldering) the 3 sets of wires together insures that no resistance occurs. There are other options available one of them is Anderson power pole. They make connectors that can handle the current needed to charge the bike properly. A simple inspection now will give you a benchmark to gauge the connectors performance down the road.Hard wired, versus what?
Also, bike came out of a collection, was sold to me by son of the owner who had been incarcerated.....yeah I paid cash for it![]()
