2022 Kentucky "Moonbow" Meet and Greet October 7-9, 2022

Hello All!
I am putting together a Meet and Greet for 2022! Save the date: Friday October 7th through Sunday October 9th, 2022.
We are going to do it at Cumberland Falls, Kentucky! Cumberland falls is a huge waterfall on the Cumberland River in Daniel Boone National Forest in Kentucky, a mountainous area with a LOT of great roads to ride on.
Cumberland Falls is known for its “Moonbow,” a phenomenon known as a lunar rainbow, which can only be seen in two places in the world, and only one place in the Western hemisphere. There will be a full moon on the weekend of October 7th-9th and a moonbow should be visible (given cooperating weather conditions.)
The best lodging for our group is Falls Creek Cabins and Campground. This campground is five miles from Cumberland Falls (I wanted to get as close as possible because to view the Falls at night we would have to ride on a dark, winding highway through the forest.)
The website for the campground is: Falls Creek Cabins and Campgrounds
I visited Falls Creek Cabins and Campground and they have 20 or so cabins with different amenities. All cabins are heated/air conditioned. I have uploaded a campground map with a chart to best describe the amenities. The Couple’s Cabins have private restrooms, but all others will use the bathhouse which I inspected and found to be very nice.
The campground also has primitive campsites and pull through RV sites (if that is your preference.)
The campground has many different gathering areas with fire pits we can use to socialize depending on where the group wants to gather. There are also covered gathering areas we can shelter in if the weather turns foul (this IS Kentucky, Y’all!)
I was unable to get our group a price break because they expect to be full that weekend as it IS a “premium” Moonbow weekend, and Moonbows draw a crowd, especially in October. There were, however, no reservations for our weekend, yet. I toured all the accommodations, and they are excellent!
Prices will be as follows (I did my best to calculate the prices correctly:)
Couple Cabins (sleeps up to 4) $199/night (private BR, private bath, private deck)
Covered Wagons (really nice, microwave, refrigerator, bug proof, AC and heat – sleeps up to 6) $199/night (must use bathhouse)
Super Cozy Cabin $149 (really nice, private deck, microwave, refrigerator, bug proof, AC and heat, sleeps up to 6) $149/night (must use bathhouse)
Cozy Cabin $119/night (really nice, microwave, refrigerator, bug proof, AC and heat, sleeps up to 4) $119/night (must use bathhouse)
If you have question, please feel free to call me at (502)593-3004 – David Schroerlucke

I am looking forward to getting together again!

I'll be looking at this and making plans. You can count on me being there. Lots of good roads in that area. Anyone interested in sharing a cabin? I may camp, but willing to split a place.

How many nights are you planning on staying ? I am going against my better judgement, because of my sleep habits, but I think I might like to share a cabin.

Outstanding!
Interested. But I have questions.
First a little background. New to Goldwings. Bought my first one last August. A 2014 Trike with CSC conversation. Wife and I love riding but we are newbies. We are old folks. Retired. Never been to a group meet an greet.
How wild to these parties get? I've only heard of some of the Harley parties and I suspect these are nothing like that. Is alcohol allowed? Do the gals mostly keep their tops on? Is there an initiation for newbies? Do most do a ride each day? Probably dumb questions but I hate to assume. Thx.

quite a few of us have met up at other M&G's. its not a party just a great way to get to meet and form friendships with other GWOF members. nothing is mandatory to do so if you want to go off on your own excursion that's ok too and if you want to have alcohol ( i might ) everyone is fine with that, we are also ok if you don't. i see you are from Ohio so maybe you can set up a 555 part 2 M&G next year, i plan on riding 13 to get down to marietta next trip

Even one of the biggest M&Gs the forum has ever had (Cody) wasn't loud and obnoxious. We had fun, but I don't think we disturbed anybody.

I'm back from my meeting this past week. I'll be looking over the information on the State Park over the weekend (once I get all my honey-do's completed). RayJ found a HIE not too far away.

I'll have to think about a place to stay. Anybody have ideas? That HIE is in Corbin, 16 miles away.
Interesting sites in the area;
Cumberland Gap is 72 miles.
Mill Springs Civil War Battlefield (January 19, 1862) is 50 miles.
Sgt. Alvin York's place is just 75 miles.
A few years (or so) ago, a number of us met in Hazard and rode Hell For Certain Road. It's just 87 miles away.
I've been through here before, but not a lot, and not recently. Any thoughts about riding the area?

Please give me a shout if riding down Marietta way. I'm south of there near Belpre and Little Hocking. Have you stopped by Stockport damn in your travels. Neat place.

I didn't realize y'all had a triple nickel M&G. Kewl. I'd be happy to help organize one for this area. I'm at the south end of the triple nickel near Little Hocking Ohio. I ride it regularly. Quite a few fun rides in this area. Since buying the GW I have searched and found roads I didn't realize existed.

I will consult my wife and see if we can make it to this event in Oct. Sounds like a good time.

Got it on the calendar! Are we thinking that Friday and Saturday are "ride days" - so we would travel on Thursday and Sunday?

Sing to Him who rides across the heavens, his mighty voice thundering from the sky. Ps 68:33

Saturday will definitely be a "Ride" day... Anyone who is there and wants to ride Friday should have a great day to see Ky!
