Hello , I have a 86 wing and I have done a ton of work to it , new fuel relay and a new fuel pump cleaned the tank and a fresh fuel filter, it starts and runs fine and randomly will just shut off and I’ll check the fuel filter and there will be no fuel???? I’ll hit the fuel pump as I turn the bike over and twist the throttle then it will pull the fuel again and fill the filter and ride for 5 more min then die again? I’m so lost as to why? Is this the pulse generator or coils ? Because this fuel pump has less than 100 miles on it and it’s brand new

First of all, welcome to the forum.

Sounds like you received a defective pump.

Welcome to the forum. Cantankerous has a good point. I have had a fuel pump on a car that was sucking in air through a failed diaphragm that exhibited those same symptoms. I don't know how air can get introduced in your situation (if it is even possible) but it is something else to look at.

I was having a similar problem on my 84 1200. I also replaced the fuel pump and FP regulator, and it would run perfect on the center stand in the garage for as long as I wanted. And it would run fine on the road. But would quit at random on the road. As it turned out the wiring plugs in the system were the issue. I took the plugs apart and I clean them and also tighten up the female side of the connectors. Which made it hard to put the plugs together. But I now have a more positive fit. Then after that my problems went away.
So try working on the electrical plugs and see if that fixes it for you too.
