67 here. I would look for a 1500 or newer. I sold my 80 gl1100 and went to a 2004 1800. I dont miss the 1100 at all. The newer design is much more of a pleasure to ride.
I was amazed at how little engine heat you can feel, since the radiators ship the heat out to the sides instead of across your legs.
I realize that you may have a sentimental attachment to a 1200, but I would go for comfort and performance. It is nice to have all that torque, most corners you can roll in 4th gear, 3rd works to almost a stop. 1800 is lighter than my 1100 was, even with the tourpack very nimble.

Happy riding any way you go.
I am 15 miles from Morvin. There is a chance I know her family. I grew up in Sweet Water, and except for 4 years in the service with 23 months and 17 days in Nam have been close around here most of my life.

RayJ You have been scolded about the 1200 and I would agree with some of it. I am 67. Have a 2015 that I have put 50k miles on since feb of 2017. However, I have also a 75 first year 1000. Not running yet. Since I just got back from just short of 11k to Alaska on my 1800 I donít think you are too old. If you want a 1200 look around but go get an 1800 and start riding. Time is short and Lord know how much time we have.

Randy Hawes Welcome to the forum, Outlaw.

Getting another 1200 will be like moving into a different house in the old neighborhood.

You can tell your wife, a few years ago, we had a thread that asked each member his/her age. I think average was about 66. I ride with two guys over 80. And it seems like one of our members here is over 80. And that 78 yr old kid, Ron, still takes long distance, multi-day trips WITH HIS WIFE!!!

detdrbuzzard hello and welcome to GWOF Southernoutlaw. my first wing was a '84 aspencade and sometimes I think of getting another 1200 wing. I had my 1200 and 1500 for a few years but decided to give my niece the 1200. I liked that the 1500 had more room in the saddle for me, I didn't feel cramped. when the stator went out on my 1200 a friend did an alternator conversion for me, I didn't get to help much. when the alternator went out on my 1500 I had the old one out and a new one in, took about 40 minutes. a 1200 has a candle compared to the headlights on a 1500 wing, if I get another 1200 wing I see not only an alternator conversion but an LED headlight
