nando It cannot be this subjective...can it?

There's gotta be a consensus of which shield blows the most amount of air over your helmet; the one that promotes the least amount of noise and turbulence on the side of your helmet.

How can that be an impossible thing to measure, or even feel?

If I had to take a gamble on a windshield, I would GUESS that the taka or the Klock Werks are the most effective. I had flared-tip shields on other bike and they worked best. There are alway those huge ones but you gotta look 'through' them.

I bet the Madstad and the Windbender work also, but the air that comes under the shield lowering the upper part air-flow pressure couldn't possibly be good on cold mornings. I rode a shield with that vent-hole in the middle (but no vents) in a cold day and that was not good. I imagine that air coming from under the shield is even worse.

That's it, I am buying a car...NOT!

Lee,

What was the final verdict on this Quantum vs Taka run?

LongRideShields Our new Durashield is polishable but can scratch. We always recommend plastic safe cleaner for all our shields, or just plain old soap and water. Nothing with alcohol or ammonia in the cleaner is good for the shield. It will damage it. Using a Microfiber cloth while cleaning will help prevent scratching as well.

Capt, the "new" windshield is definitely an upgrade over the original shield. The original one that they produced was thin and I was not happy with it at all. The company is great to work with, and they were prompt to send me out a "new, upgraded" thicker shield. Unfortunately, with my busy summer work schedule, I have not had time to install it and give it a thorough testing. However, it does appear to be of much better quality and I believe it should perform well. I will post my personal opinion once I have a few miles on the upgraded Taka. I ordered and received a 20" with the vent. You have a few options to consider. If you have any further questions, feel free to PM me for info as I may not continue to monitor this thread... T

Thank you, Tom. I'll give them a ring.

Do you think that Windex is safe? (ammonia)
