East Tennessee, two 'wings wanting a third

We have >119 k miles on our '06 PA, just did 4200 miles in 13 days out West, primarily on 2 lanes (US70 and 60). I also have a '78 with '75 engine that I rescued and turned into a bike to take to shows. Trailering it primarily this year, will be riding it to most shows next year. We pull a Uni-go behind the 1800. Went to Barber's vintage weekend last year and plan to do it again this year. On the lookout for a '79 to restore. There are so few that haven't had fairings and bags hung on them.

Welcome to the site for sure. I'd love a nekkid Wing (restored of course) to puts around on at special events etc, but I don't really want to live out my days in the 5th wheel...

Another new member from East Tennessee

Hey there! We might be neighbors - I'm in East Tennessee as well - Dandridge, to be specific.
Only been the area for about a year,
I'm a new member of the forum too - I just joined today.
And I'm also new to Goldwings.
Just new all around I guess...

I got my first 'wing this past Friday. A 2008 AUDIO/COMFORT/NAVI/ABS and am thrilled to have it and start making it my own.

Maybe once I get a little more practice with low speeds (it doesn't handle quite like my FJR did) so I don't embarass myself to badly, perhaps we can get together for some riding...

Ride safe!

Great setup. Wish I had ABS on my '06. Keep in touch. I ride through there on my way to or from Asheville occasionally. I'm North of Clinton.

Thanks! I wasn't dead set on the NAVI, but I'd decided that I definitely wanted ABS, so when I found one, I jumped on it...

Let's definitely stay in touch - I've headed in the direction of Asheville twice by motorcycle. I-40 is a means to an end if you're trying to make time, but I really enjoyed taking 25-70 out through Newport. I didn't take it all the way to Asheville though - I turned South at Hot Springs and rode the "Rattler".
Let me know if you're headed this way - also, I've never been out your way before, so I'd be interested in exploring. I'll let you know if I come that way.

Welcome to the forum to both of you. This is a great place to hang out when not riding.

Hello and welcome to the forum.
Another Wing to think about adding to the collection is the 1984 GL1200 Standard, but be careful there are also 'Fake' ones out there. Happy hunting.

'84 Standards are indeed rare. I have a friend in Knoxville making a fake 1200 Standard. I-40 to Asheville is fine on early Sunday mornings - avoid it on 2 wheels at other times. From where I live, there is great riding in every direction (well, you have to get through Knoxville if going South). I grew up just North of the Kentucky border, and have about eight ways to go home that avoid I-75! A group of us try to eat lunch at Cumberland Falls each New Years Day. Around here, only frozen precip keeps us from a 365 day season. Heated gear a must, of course.
