Seattle Rider Looking For GL1800

As you can see, I'm commuting and weekend touring on an FJR1300.

Not comfortable enough for my wife on the back with a Givi top trunk installed for a backrest.

We successfully passed the Evergeeen Safety Council's 3-wheeler trike course on sidecars, trikes and Can Am Spyders.

But the customer service of BRP is terrible - no help from corporate and the reliability issues on the Spyders has got us off of buying a trike for how own bike. Not comfortable on a 2-wheeler yet so she's have to be my pillion for a while.

Now we're looking for a 2006 or newer GL1800 as the West Coast has some beautiful places to visit. Still have to ride one for myself. 5'10" and 200 lbs plus should be able to manage and finesse the GW beast.

Want to learn more about the top touring motorcycle out there!

Wow Ron, that was fast. Thanks for the 411.

Are they a bigger dealer on GWs?

What do you think about Ride Motorsports in Woodinville or I-90 Motorsports in Issaquah?

Everett Power sport is a fair size dealer, they sell a lot of Honda product, Sorry I don't know anything about Ride Motorsports.

Welcome to the GWOF from Pa. There are a few 1800's in our classified subforum but also don't rule out Cycle Trader. Good site, www.cycletrader.com

Thank you all.

So I'm hearing 2006 or newer.

But, I'm running into several 2003-2005's for under $9K. Reading about recalls and frame cracks. Understand I want a ridden Wing that's been loved and cared for.

My concern is that some non-Honda dealers are selling them. How will I get the maintenance records?

Always liked to buy form private parties so I get the real low down on their maintenance records, can see their garage, get an indication of their skills in maintaining their Wing.

I think if you take the bikes serial number to a dealer they can run it and see if the recalls have been done, I'm sure one of he 1800 guys could tell you for sure.

The frame crack issue was through early 2004. The 2005 and later had a change in the cooling fans. My 2004 has never had any major overheating issues even when riding in 90* plus temperatures. You can also look up the VIN on NHTSA website. https://www.nhtsa.gov/

It is a bit of a drive but I see Holeshot Motorsport in Langley has a 06 $11499 that Canadian convertering it would make it around $9125 they also have a 02 for $10000.
