After doing cross country trips for over 30 years I have to agree with almost everything in this list

especially these;

more farkles equals more distractions and less fun. use the GPS to tell you how lost you really are.
Stay off the interstate as much as possible
Don't worry about getting the bike dirty, gravel is fun too.
change oil before you leave but never during a trip no matter how many miles it is.
Not to add controversy but running a CT guarantees you won't be needing a tire change mid trip.
Travel as a solo couple for maximum enjoyment and efficiency.

We do pack light except for all the camera and fishing gear I pack. So I guess we don't then.
