If it moves and it shouldn't, use duct tape.

If it doesn't and it should, use WD-40.

Duct tape is great, but I have made more emergency repairs with a small spool of stainless steel lockwire I keep in my tool box.

back in about '74 I and my Piper TriPacer used to live on a ranch, and we would roll thru the cattle guards to the Elm tree where it was "hangered under"...

At the end of my "driveway", a patch of pasture with tracks thru it, a telephone pole sets in one corner where it meets the gravel road.

Not like I don't know that pole is there, but one day coming home from a joy ride, I see something "over there" and turn left into my "driveway" w/o watching close....

yep, wingtip hit the pole and broke the outer wing tip rib. Master fixer, used that FixAnythingStuff and just rolled the loose fabric up and over, and wrapped the Duct Tape around the whole thing.

The TriPacer never noticed the loss of wing... that last 18" don't do a damn thing, as it is tapered up to a fine point.... flew it that way for a long time, until it was time to get the annual done.

I bought a set of Gullwing Tips, the kind that droop "way down" and had those installed....

Those new wing tips dropped the stall speed almost 20 knots, from 60ish down into the low 40s at full flaps and 1500 rpm.
