Wow Doc, that engine looks "pristine"!
Loaded up my riding gear and tire warmers last night. That only leaves loading the bike on the trailer, pit tent, air compressor, race fuel, generator and pit tool kit for tonight after work. Getting stoked, hard to focus on work right now...

Had a visit from the window guru to quote some more windows and a new slider for the deck entry/exit. They did such a great job last time, and the estimate came in reasonably low. Will brighten up the living room with more ambient light; now herself tells me she didn't like the windows I had done when we ditched the other set of sliding doors. Yeesh Oh well, back into the play and pay game.

Had to run to Bass Pro in Ashland VA so I contacted Eddie (Ironhorse) too see if he wanted to get some lunch. He met me at Bass Pro and hung around while I dickered with the manager on my bill. Ended up getting $170.00 off two $179.00 game cameras. It was worth 30 minutes with the manager in my book.

We then went to the Trackside Grill in Ashland. Had a great club sandwich while Eddie devoured some wings.

Headed back home and got home just in time for the traffic jam and 95 degree weather. About 110 miles and lunch with a friend. Nice day.

Proof

well, despite an ungodly early start (4:00 am) it was a grand day at the track. Only a few forest rats to contend with but almost nil on the traffic side so not too bad a drive in. Rain was looking like to dampen or drown us but the skies relented and it turned into a pretty nice day. Had issues with the generator (never checked the breakers until mid day (duh) so I ran without the warmers but given my lack of track time this year it really wasn't an issue in the chill and damp of morning. By 11:00 or so the sun was trying to warm things and the tires began to slough of them pretty little gummy balls of rubber I'm used to. I missed a few race lines at the beginning laps, but it soon came back and was cooking pretty well by early afternoon. The bike ran tops as usual and it was good to see some long time friends and made some great new ones just like happens in the track community. There was the usual attention lapses and some off track excursions but nobody came away the worse for wear at the end of the day. What surprised me was that since I'm used to doing double headers, the day flew by and come 4:00pm I wasn't ready to quit; although my body soon told me on the drive home that the envelope of physical push had been breached. Sore as the dickens today so I guess there was a certain amount of death grip and tense muscles through the day. Was good to be back.

Yesterday was a "not so great" day. Here's the good, the bad and the ugly. We've been having issues with the effluent pump on septic system. I've been trying various things to keep it going but alas, it needed to be replaced. First step was to get the tank pumped. The Good was they came right away, the Bad was they broke a pipe while pumping it. They fixed it without an additional charge. Next step was replacing the pump and float switches. At 105 it was not the most pleasant job but it had to be done. The. Ugly was the final bill. It was $$$$So bad but hopefully it will last another 15 years. I also learned (in great detail) that our cleaning lady has been flushing her used cleaning clothes down the toilet which led to the pump failure.

All in all, could have been much worse I guess. I'll leave out the "UGLY" details but suffice it to say, life looks better from ground level than from inside the tank.

Got to thinking about what's going on with me and this coming winters. The last couple times I had to use the generator because we lost power the old Honda gen. was hard to start. So I put fresh oil in just because and pull the spark plug. It was completely black on the end. Put in a new plug and on the third gentle pull it started right up. Heck that thing has only been in there 30 years. You'd think they make some things to last?????
