Unhappy Very sad Monday, in Farmington Maine

http://www.dailybulldog.com/db/featu...on-falls-road/

i knew personally the first responders injured in the explosion. my grandfather used to be the deputy fire chief. at his funeral, the firefighter that drove the truck my father rode in, holding my grandfathers ashes, is one of the firefighters involved.
you watch it on TV, but it always seems so distant, when it happens to somebody else. but when your own home town is rocked with a massive explosion, it really hits so very close to home. i am still a bit in shock at the situation. i mean, there is building insulation in my yard! that's how close it hit to home!!!!

My prayers for those affected. It will take the community quite some time to recover and even longer to heal. We lost one of our young firefighters during a training dive 18 years ago (he was a member of our dive team as well as other specialties). This was our first fatality as well. During the funeral procession, I drove the chief's buggy carrying the immediate family. It was tough enough, but when I saw the two areal trucks with their ladders high and a US flag hanging across the road in front of Station 1, I lost it. I still tear up when I think about it. It had a profound impact on our department and our community.

That's very sad. It looks as if a bomb went off. Prayers for all.

with one dead firefighter, and the injured, we have barely any to staff the station. we are staffed now by people from neighboring stations.

really scary, how one incident can almost cripple a small town's infrastructure.

So very sorry to hear this Travis. I've lost a few friends also due to accidents. Looking at the photos it looks devastating and their actions to evacuate everyone saved a lot of lives.
