As most of GWOF member would know......................the last 12 months have been hard on the Hoon. To get back home from our great USA trip to find that I didn't have a job. Then I am lucky enough to get a job but it is 1000 miles from home.
Now move forward to my medical that was 6 weeks ago. I didn't think that would be too much of a problem but my blood pressure was 174/100. I was expecting them to put me off the track. And after up rooting our lives to come over here, I have had to make some big changes.
So for every day I have been walking 10 miles a day. It takes 2.5 hrs to do so after a 9 hrs at work, getting ready to go to work. I have had some long days.
Today I had to go and do a stress test for my assessment for mt fitness to work. I have passed my stress test. Now I will have to wait and see if they are happy to pass me medically fit for work.
I have got my blood pressure down to 147/84, restting heart rate of 53. And I have dropped 15lbs in weight.
I really can't do much more. My hips and knees just can't take much more.
Best of luck with the test. I have blood pressure issues myself and take medication to keep my commercial drivers license. Sounds like you are heading in the right direction with the walking. No pun intended.
Eric, I have hypertension as well. But I have meds and my BP is steady at118 over 80-ish any time of day. And yes I've dropped some weight and gone back to the dojo for exercise and that will help more too. Cut your sodium intake and sadly, wine as well. Great anti-oxidant but we all know that once the cork is out it's out...be well buddy
I, as well, am on blood pressure medication. I was put on it after I was checked at 190/110. I wish you well that they pass you for work.

Hey Eric - Walking 10 miles a day - yikes you're one tough Hoon. Wishing you the best on the your medical test results and that your new job works out for you.....
I can't maintain walking 10 miles a day. But I knew that I had 6 weeks before my stress test and I needed a better medical report. I will now take it back to a 5 miles a day for 4 weeks plus keeping to a good diet. If I have not got my blood pressure down to about 130/80 range, then it is time for meds.
To my GWOF friends, thankyou for your comments. As much I don't see myself as a gym junky, I may need to join up and work hard at it for a couple of months.
I don't know how Ron and George have done it..............................this getting old is hard work.
