However, two baby girls stopped that dream, for about 27 years, until they were educated & on their own and we were left empty nesters. In 1996, we bought a GL1100, used, because SHE wasn’t sure about riding, which, thankfully, evolved into our passion: riding the USA on our GW, when we then bought a new 1997 Aspencade that year and ‘saw the USA’. After a couple of hundred thousand miles or so, we bought a used 2010 GW in 2011 and took in more of the US, plus more of Canada & Alaska, as at this point, we were retired. Never kept milage, unfortunately; just enjoyed the rides. In 2015, we moved on to a GW trike, and still love riding. Never gave another bike a thought. The GW has served us well.

March, 2018. I had been wanting to trade my Japanese V-twin for either a touring or a sport-touring bike for a couple of years. I was at a charity run with my Harley friends when one of them mentioned that he had "a Japanese bike at home in his garage". Turns out he had bought a new 2007 GW that he was only riding 500 miles a year. He didn't want to part with it but I fell in love at first sight and I convinced him it was wasting away in his garage. He loves his Harley and I love my "old" GW.
