Not till about 4 years ago. When younger rode sports bikes like 500 Triple Kaw, 900 Z1 and hot rodded KZ650 Kaw and the likes. Teased the guys on the 2 wheeled Buicks (Goldwings). Back then a 150 mile trip was a huge ride. Then I got away from riding for close to 30 years, raising kids and all that. My brother had a 'wing (after owning a couple of Harley's) and had been riding all over the country and talked me into getting back into riding with him, so needed a touring bike. Bought a Kawasaki XII Voyager for cheap to see if I was really going to get back into it. Rode that 1 year 11,000 miles, then moved up to my Goldwing 2 years ago. Have demo rode everything available to ride have not found anything I would rather have.

I first rode a 1976 Goldwing in 1976 and thought.............................there is no way am I ever going to get one of these great big barges.
In 2010 when the kids were older and we wanted to ride together........................there was only going to be one bike. A Goldwing.

When all else fails.......... use a hammer!

I remember when the '75 Goldwing was introduced, I was not impressed with the looks!! then folks started putting vetter packages on them, I really wasn't impressed with that setup. then came the 1100 wings and the interstate, still I wasn't impressed, it just looked like a sleeker vetter package was put on a nekkid wing to me. '84 came and the 1200 wing, the aspencade and interstate looked much more intergraded then the 1100 wings did, the 1200's were the wings that got me wanting a wing so in 2007 I got one, in 2008 I got my 1500 wing

When I saw the pics of the 2018 wing it was the one I wanted. Have had street glides for a few years, and liked the f6b but was to big for me , but when honda came out with the new wing and the dct it was what I wanted. Traded Harley for the wing and no regrets.

1998. I was riding a 1986 Kawasaki Voyager 1200. Loved the bike but wanted something better so I checked out the Goldwings. That was it, I was hooked.

Wife and I were dirt riders when we were younger, never really had a hankering to ride the street. Finally after kids were grown and out of the house we started to ride a Kawasaki 1500 Vulcan Classic.

Much like @crownfire and @Eric , after one lunch ride to Baltimore and a 300 mile day, I was told "If we are going to do this regularly we are going to need a Goldwing".

We sure were lucky to let such smart women find us.

I had Hondas during high school/college and later until my dressed out CB 750 was stolen. Fast forward to 2007 when I bought a '89 Kawasaki Vulcan 750 to get back into riding. After commuting on that bike for a few months I started researching touring bikes that would let me haul more stuff and lock up my protective gear. I found this forum and started lurking. I was constantly having to fix/repair the Vulcan and my better half kept telling me to just buy a new bike. She had no idea what I really wanted and became pretty quiet when I took her to a dealer to look at Goldwings, but in 2013 she let me purchase a leftover 2012 that had 0.2 miles on the OD. I am really enjoying this bike but not to the point that I want to start commuting again.

Like Mark and Bill, after we got back home from a trip to Tennessee, Cheryl wanted a more comfortable ride and she chose a Wing and I agreed.
