Sturgis Michigan to Sturgis SD 2017 !!!!

Going to be riding from Sturgis Michigan to Sturgis SD
Going to be leaving Michigan on the 2nd, arriving on the 4th in SD.
I figure alot on Mi riders have to head south to get there, so a perfect place to meet. Anyone heading from the east is welcome to join. Going to be getting hotels at night, because im a wimp, and night rides and deer dont make a safe trip. Hoping to cover between 350 and 400 miles a day with stops, again, because im a wimp ....( or old, choose one )
Alot easier to see a group on the road, and i want a safe ride there and back.
I was able to get a room in dead wood, but reserve a room, they are going fast!
Most likely taking the 94 all the way there once past Chicago.
Sturgis Mi is located on hiway 12, west of cold water Mi. and close to the south and west border, and very close to the 94 west.
If riding from farther east, id stop and stay in Coldwater Mi, very nice town on 12, and sturgis Mi in a 10 min ride from there.
Let me know if you want to join, and ill have meeting time and location in the very near future.
I hate to rush, so this is a " play it by ear " kinda ride. Try and make good time, but stop when it feels right. I cant do 20 hr rides like when i was younger. Wow....was i ever that young?
Any model of bike welcome.

You will have a great time. Have you been to Sturgis SD before? I went last year, sure is a lot of great riding out there. Lots of destinations to ride to on some really cool roads. Wish I could swing going again this year, but not in the cards. Ride safe and enjoy.

I went many years ago....in a car...LOL. NO FUN AT ALL.
This will be my first very long trip on this bike. Taking alot of shorter ones before hand, like heading to Sault Saint Marie and around the lake here in a month or 2. Looking forward to Sturgis....a Florida run....and Cali to ride the entire PCH at some point.
My 97 GL1500 has less that 12k...just broke in, but im still having a dealer give her a full once over before the Sturgis run. Always worry about new, used bikes.
Sorry you cant make it this year.

Maybe I'm missing something but wondering which month?
I think going I90 would be the most direct route.

Aug 4th is the date arriving.so leaving morning of the 2nd, giving us 3 days to take out time , and your right, my bad. We wanted to take the 94 from Ohio, and get past Chicago, then angle up to the 90. The 90 going through Chicago looks like down town riding all the way north, so were looking at a rout that goes west alittle before heading up to the 90.
again, early planning stage, and im up to anyone elses plans. Just trying to find a way to get a group together for the ride

You can take 294 or 355 to get around Chicago. Just don't hit the area until at least 9 am. It is nearly 11 am as I write this and 90 going through Chicago is still dark red traffic flow.

yes, looked at the 294. And i plan on leaving MI around 9 or 10, so should be well after 11 when i get to chicago.
I was considering the toll road....80/90 untill well past chicago so im not dealing with local traffic at all, i even considered taking it almost to Omaha NE# then cutting north, however Nebraska is 1 step above being in a coma

You might as well make the loop. Leave Sturgis, SD and come south. You would be just about perfect for the Sturgis, MS rally. You can stay at my house. Then leave and go home to MI. Big loop!!!!!
