Ear Plugs

I wear noise cancelling ear buds. Usually turn cancelling off in town.

Between too much gunfire and loud cars, I have pretty bad tinnitus. I need to protect what hearing I have left. For years now I always wear ear plugs when riding. Two up, I can hear my SO just fine through the helmet speakers.

Back when I was about 18-30 yrs old, I was into very loud mini truck stereos. I loved my music loud. I also loved heavy metal music and deep bass rap music.

People would always tell me I would go deaf.

My reply was "By the time I go deaf, I won't want to hear what anyone else has to say."

Looking back now, I realize how insightful that was for a youngster. The more I hear people talk the more I wish they would shut up.

I wanted to reach out and slap someone a couple of months ago.
I could hear a low thumping bass noise about 2 blocks away.
When the car got closer, it was really loud.
I looked in the back and there was a baby in a car seat in the back seat.
It's one thing to do it to yourself, but to your kid?

It's never too late to have a happy childhood!

I ditched the audio before I had kids.

Save your hearing, wear earplugs! I have never owned a loud bike nor done any prolonged work in a loud environment but had ridden for 42 years without earplugs before tinnitus and noticeable hearing loss. The only thing I can attribute it to is wind noise. It doesn't sound loud but I think the cumulative effect is worthy prevention.

I love how quiet the wing is. Not for my hearing, just because i think loud pipes are stupid.

And here I thought the Windward side was the noisy side.

Having worked for so many years beside a high speed meat saw, I've dealt with tinnitus and some hearing loss for over a decade now. I seriously doubt that standing right in front of the stage beside Colin James' tower speakers could have had any detrimental effect on my hearing though.

grab all the kicks you can baby, you only make this scene once!

Gee! And we are not even married. Rest assured, if you didn't sleep peacefully neither did I . Of course the " Leeward " side is another option . You could be downwind.

Lee.
