Running plain old ethenol free 87 octane gas, I get 43-44, but running that government subsidised stuff, I get about 39. I buy 100% gas as much as possible. I also get some pinging on 87 w/ethenol, so when I get ethenol, I run mid grade.

Talking

I have a 1994 Goldwing GL1500 trike and on twisty roads at 55 MPH I get about 37.5 and on freeways at 75 I get about 31. My 1800 VTX 1800 trike gets 33 on the same twisty roads but gets 30 on freeways. It has a lot to do with gearing and how I drive them but that's been the average so far. This week week we are taking the VTX 1800 to Houston (1100 miles) and the week after I'm taking the Goldwing trike to Ohio (1600 miles). I'll be able to better respond after these trips as I've only had the Wing trike for 2 weeks and I have put about 500 miles on it.

I have a new 2010 and so far it has averaged 44 mpg during the first 700 miles. That includes a mix of in town riding and a few hundred with the cruise set at 80mph on ethanol free gas.

I always use premium fuel in my '08 and with 3700 miles on it so far, I'm getting an average 42 mpg when I ride with friends (typically 70-80 mph with 95% on open highways) and if I take backroads and drive conservatively (55-65 mph), I can average 46-47 mpg.

Personally, I'm very pleased with my mileage since the official Honda website specs for the 2010 Goldwing is only 36 mpg.
Premium fuel is a no-no . The wing has a low compression engine and does not need high octane fuel. You could be doing harm to your engine( carbon buildup in the combustion chambers from the slower burning fuel) I would highly recommend you not to use premium any longer. Run a tank of regular gas with seafoam or Techron fuel injection cleaner. Save your money and your bike!
I get 44 mpgs two up ,fully loaded at 70-75 mph!
What weight of oil do you use ?

Not to worry Blue, I made the switch to regular not long after I originally posted this thread, with no loss of performance or mileage. The money I save however is now consumed by accessories.

I get between 41 and 43 with 'average' riding.......pretty conservative and a mix of highway and backroads. Rarely do I need to 'power up' and usually shift at low rpms. My wife is so tiny that I don't notice the difference when we ride together.

Keep her under 3K and get 42-44, drops off when I ride her hard. BTW, any engine only burns the octane it is designed for, so premium is a waste of your money. All levels of fuel today have all of the additives we didn't have in earlier days.
