Nice to see so many GW enthusiasts, it helps with all the questions.
Just bought this 89 gl 1500 SE for $500.
It needs some work.
There is a lot of extra wires going nowhere, no mufflers and no radio but it starts and runs excellent.
Changed out the oil and filter and final drive oil.
Checked all fluids and topped up.
I compression tested and got 180 to 190 on all cylinders except #4.
That cylinder gave me 155 lbs.
Any ideas on possible reason?
Put new gas and half a can of SeaFoam in the tank.
I'm getting a bit of white smoke out of left bank exhaust but not a lot.
Hoping for a simple fix.
Nice to meet you all.
Stan

Hello and welcome to the forum.
Nice looking Wing, congrats and a good price too.
If you place the bike on the center stand it stops the smoke, as oil tends to migrate to the left side.

First of all, welcome to the forum.

Good looking bike. I would let the SeaFoam work its magic, then do another compression test.

It's a fine looking machine and a steal at that price.

Another thought is adding some Seafoam to the crankcase and putting a bit of mileage on it. Quite possible that you have a gummed up lifter. Careful with how much you add to the crankcase though. Follow the instructions on the can.

I ran some Seafoam through mine before I switched to Amsoil. Stuff that came out when I drained it was ugly.

Oh by the way Welcome to the GWOF from PA.

Hello trike lady.
I did have the bike on the center stand at the time and was just letting it warm up.
It stopped after a few minutes but seems to smoke a bit when cold.

Hello cantankerous.
That's a great offer but I live on Toront , Ontario, Canada.
How much would you be looking for.
Any idea of the cost to ship?

Welcome to GWOF from Down Under. I like giving other people work to do.........................put on new timing belts before doing very much with this motor.
