side panel stud repair kit?

I have a 90 GW & was driving home when i noticed the right side cover was fixing to come off. One of the tabs that fit into the rubber grommet was broken. i saw a stud repair kit on eBay,has anyone had any luck with the kit?The kit is kinda $$$ like $16 for 1 stud. I guess you have to cut length of stud then JB Weld stud to side cover?? i guess it would b cheaper than replacing lost side cover. Any ideals?? Thanks

If you still have old stud, get a tube of Black ASB plastic glue at the local hardware store. I've used it several times to glue the broken studs back on.
