Help with remote fob for the trunk

Used the fob to lock the trunk when I went in to work and it would not unlock nor pop the trunk. OK, so I went and got a new battery and still nothing. I never had any trouble with it before. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Welcome Tobler43. It is possible you put your FOB into lock-out mode (assuming it's an 1800). I've accidentally done it myself a couple times. There is a procedure in the owners manual but I don't have mine with me. I'll try and use the one on the dealer site and see if I can find it.

If it's one of the new 2018 or newer, I'm not sure at all how to get through that. I'll check out both and see what I can report back.

Could be a broken wire in the harness at the trunk hinge. You don't say what year the bike is, but the continuing flex of this harness causes the wires to break inside the tape.

I can't find exactly what I wanted in the electronic manual, but I did find it in my own manual when I had the problem. Info starts on page 55 or 56. However, you may have to reset the FOB system by turning the ignition key to the on position, start the bike for a minute or two as well. Then turn the key off and remove it from the ignition and test the lock buttons. Your signal lights should blink once indicating locked, twice for unlocked. If there is a problem with the closure on any of the three compartments, the lights should blink 10 times. The trunk or bags will not open if the key is in the on or acc position, but they should lock or unlock. I would suggest you use the key to manually open the trunk and both bags and then re-close them to make sure they are latched properly. Also, test the red locate/panic button to see if that works. Horn should blow and the signals should flash. At least that will tell you if the FOB is active. It is possible that the battery you replaced is faulty, it can happen. Not to be condescending or anything but you did check the polarity of the battery when you installed it right?

My bike is a 2012. I checked the wires and put the battery in the same as it came out. The fob lights when a button is pushed but no results,
