Cardo Packtalk Bold works with Sena Freewire

When I bought my Wing, I wanted to Bluetooth it so that I could hear the radio through my helmet speakers. It seemed Sena had the only technology that could do this, so I bought the 20S and the Freewire. I've now switched to the Dynamic Mesh (DMC) with my riding buddies and am using the Cardo Packtalk Bold. I thought the Freewire was going to be a throw away because Sena's support told me only the 20S or 30K would work with it. However, it seems to pair just fine to the Cardo Packtalk Bold and I was able to have my phone paired to the headset as Phone 1 and the Freewire paired as Phone 2. Then, while still in DMC mode, I could hear the radio from the bike through the headset, use voice commands to answer calls, and do everything I was doing with the 20S. So, if you're thinking about Bluetooth, mixing and matching does work.

One question about this set up. Does the music sound good thru the headphones. I have the Pactalk also and have my iPhone paired via bluetooth. listening to the music from my iphone is aweful with the speakers that came with the PT. I have thought about getting the Sena to bluetooth the bike but if the sound is no better it would be a waste of money for me.

I thought the sound exceeded my expectations. I was expecting to hear a difference like the difference between mono and stereo, but that wasn't the case. I mean it's not like listening through a BOSE headset or anything but I think it's comparable to the sound I was getting with the 20S.

Hi Slowrollin.
Are you able to transmit CB via Cardo and Sena combo?
Thank you.

Interesting thing I noticed while listening to music on my sena 20. I was riding, wearing a Balaclava because it was cold. That little bit of fabric between my ear and the speaker actually improved the sound quality. It filtered out some of the tinny sound and I was able to drive the speaker better and get more Bass. Also blocked some wind noise.

They now offer JBL speakers for the Cardo. I have the Packtalk and knew about matching up headset to headset with others via bluetooth and not DMC. Not aware of bluetoothing the bike radio to the Cardo unit. What year of Wing do you have, can this be done on an '05?

It is not the 20S that connects to the bike. It is the Freewire that is actually plugged into the bike giving the Bluetooth capability to the 20S.

It's not the destination, but the getting there.
