How Would You Anwser If............

………….you rode a bike with very loud straight pipes down some street and someone suggested your disrupting my piece and quiet??

I live in a gated community and such a rider rides passed our guard house rattling our windows out of their frames.

We all talk about water pollution, air pollution, but never noise pollution...….

Just Curious about your opinion and how you would answer.

I have a new neighbor, he just moved in right across the street from me and has a loud Harley. my first thought was " wonder if my old neighbors miss the sound of the Mighty ST 1300 "

Does your community have a noise ordinance. You and your neighbors have as much right to peace and as he has to being a jerk.

We have a neighbor about 6 houses down the street who rides a loud Harley. Our house is right on the corner and he used to love to come around the corner and crank on the throttle to see how many car alarms he could set off. All it took was a walk down to his house and a calm talk to get him to tone it down - even the scruffiest bikers can still be human! It might help that he knows we ride also, even though we don't ride a Harley!

In my neck of the woods it is the diesel trucks that have all of the mufflers removed and about a 10 inch diameter echo tip.

I hate how loud my 2002 Dodge cummins is and I have all of the stock exhaust still on the truck, it is just the loud clatter of the old engines. Love the truck otherwise. But sometimes I still want to get rid of it just so the neighbors don't have to listen to it. Sold the farm, don't need the truck, but it is paid for. Filled it up with fuel today, last fill up was the end of Feb.

That is why I ride a Goldwing, all you can hear coming down the street is the stereo.

I have never been a fan of loud exhaust. I like a nice sleeper. Like the 77 camaro z28 that I had, no spoilers or emblems anywhere that let you know it was a Z, Until you thought you just had to try to show off, then I let you know what lurked under the hood. It was still quiet at 130mph.

Showing my age here, but I remember many of my friends had "Glass Packs" on the 50's and 60's cars to replace the OEM muffler.

The game for the local officers was to pull over those with loud pipes, give tickets or warnings.

Today, officers just seem to look the other way and don't bother, or because if you showed up in court for loud pipes,
to many judges threw the case out the window.

Most locations have a rating of 92Db at 3-10 feet behind the vehicle (there are local variances). Your local authorities should be able to give you that number for sure. A little peer pressure should serve to teach that rider some respect and lighter use of the right wrist.

grab all the kicks you can baby, you only make this scene once!

I'd apologize for the blown muffler and tell him that I had a new one on order.

I hate loud pipes.

I'd tell you to park it until the muffler comes in
