When I look in the service manual I find directions for the messages "GPS antenna disconnected" and "GPS antenna shorted". I'm wondering why my messages do not contain a reference to the GPS. I have attached photographs of my error messages. What I'm wondering is does the lack of reference to the GPS indicate that the message does not refer to the GPS? In my experience error messages are usually very specific.
Do you get a map screen ? Can you receive FM radio signals ? This message may be referring to the radio antenna and not the GPS.
Go into MENU, GPS info and see how many satellites you are receiving signal from.

I just reviewed your pictures again and it looks like you lost about 300 miles in 5 minutes from the pic time stamps and the ODO. 5686 miles at 5:50PM and 5315 miles at 5:45PM. Is that right ?

No, the pictures were taken on different days. I believe that the time stamp refers to when the pics were uploaded. Those were old photos that I had on my phone.

Update: Well, I honestly didn't think I would find the problem but it turns out that the bike was telling me the truth. the GPS cable was disconnected. I'm not sure how I will exactly how to route the new cable when I get it because the other end of the cable has fallen down inside the bike somewhere. But I made it this far. I am waiting on a call back from the dealer to discover the cost and of a new unit and how long it will take to get it shipped to me. But hey - Yea Me! Kinda makes me feel like a real owner cause I can actually work on my GW. Yahoo!

That is the antenna and it is a unit with the cable. The other end is to the left front of the right topshell pocket.

Thanks for the reply Jinx. I'm not sure if I understand what you mean by topshell. I think you mean on the right side beneath the right handlebar. I don't have a pocket on that side. but I will check the service manual to see if there is a procedure for replacing those switches.

Sorry I forgot you have the airbag model. it is under that control panel.

Don't know what the dealer wants for the antenna but I beleive you can get it on ebay for about $40.00 last time I looked.

My antenna is being shipped and should be here early next week. I have the service manual but I am unable to locate the instructions for removing the RH control panel. The manual shows how to remove the RH pocket but I cannot find the directions for the panel. Any suggestions on removing the panel or where to look in the manual would be appreciated. Thanks.

Well, the dealer shipped me a GPS antenna that is 1/4 the size of the one that I removed. They say they will have the correct antena in stock by Friday so I said I would drive the 120 mile round trip to pick it up.

I am happy to say that I installed the new antenna myself and it works well. I was able to determine that the other two wires that the mouse chewed off went to the GPS control on the left handlebar. I soldered in new wires and the left hand GPS control works also. I can't really describe how good it feels to have been able to fix these issues myself. I am so glad that my GW came with a Honda 2006-2007 Maintenance Manual. That thing is worth it's weight in gold.
