Question Chuckinwashington

I'm new to this and have been looking for a Goldwing for some time but thought I would get some feedback on a 2002 1800. At what millage should I start to worry about major work being done?

Thanks

Welcome to the forum. You can find lots of help and advice here. Wings are known for their reliability and longevity if they are frequently ridden and well maintained.

Welcome Chuck, as my good friend the "Doc" alluded you should be fine with a high mileage bike provided it's maintenance was always performed, however there are plenty of used Wings on the market and with the release of the all new '18 there may be even more. I would not rush to a decision, and as I always say wait until you find the one that Sings to you the "Ride Me" song. It happens believe me and you can hear it if you listen closely.

Again Welcome to the GWOF from the Keystone State.

I have a 2010 and have put some good miles on it. As stated maintenance is the key, and I think not letting them sit. Welcome to you from Mississippi and good luck on your search.

There was several recalls and service bulletins on the early 1800 wings. If you find one from 01 to 04 I would check with a dealer to see if all the recall and service bulletins have been performed, If it was me I would look for an 05 or newer, and again, check for maintenance records. Common failures on wings with over 100,000 miles are the alternator, final drive and fork seals, Also Honda is known for sticky switches. Try all the switches and ,ake sure they work properly.
