Or if you are using the new forum layout instead of the "Classic View" there is a tab between the google search bar and the insurance tab called "Events". Click on that and it will open the Calendars, scroll to the bottom left, select a month and that will open to the month of your choosing.

2) The thread about the M&G is long. What are the dates and location? I doubt that I can attend, but who knows?

June around the 23 (depending on where you're arriving from) to the 26 (same only where you have to get when you leave). We will arrive mid day 23rd, but have to pull stakes Saturday morning as I have to work Monday.

3) I spent a great deal of time planning the trip. Packing was practiced over and over. In essence, I didn't pack cold weather clothing. I simply layered a lot. It hasn't been unusual to have five layers of clothing on. I carried mostly space age material. Light and compact.
And a fine job you did sir. Temps are way more seasonal now. Hope you're outfitted ok, but pretty sure you are.

Thanks. Yesterday I experienced some of the toughest driving of the entire trip. Head on wind gusts on a curvy cliff-side road. Couldn't predict which way the wind would push me. Even on the massive GW I'd be thrown three or more feet sideways. Scary situation.

I'll continue the blog until I reach home later this week, then take it up again for my walk across Scotland. I still fully intend to head to the northeast in September to complete my Grand Adventure. Finances willing.

My Grand Adventure - Partial Completion

San Diego - Key West - Fairbanks - San Diego; Completed

69 days of driving, 17,203 miles, 22 states, 3 provinces and 1 territory.

Didn't become a member of the IDMWT community.

The GW performed beautifully. Small compartment door broken by my foot: Rear part of the front fender slightly cracked by gravel. (Worth mentioning; a GS1200 broke a fork on the Alaskan Highway gravel. Just because the GW is prettier doesn't mean she isn't tougher.)

Part II to Nova Scotia will be in the fall. September? Finances may impact that trip. Using a tent didn't work out the way I'd hoped, for various reasons.

It was an awesome trip and glad we could enjoy it with you. I have added so many things that I want to see now. A lot of your alaska portion I will be doing next year, and then some. Going all the way north of Fairbanks to Deadhorse, but I will not be on the gold wing for that trip.

Looking forward to your part 2 to New England.

One thing I learned from locals about the Deadhorse ride is that clogged air filters can become an issue. Seeing the layers of dust on trucks coming down from there certainly backs up the warning.
