Probably calcium chloride. Sticks like glue; and a real PITA to get off.

Doug, my wife and I spent 3 weeks up there last fall, starting in Whitehorse. We were part of an organized tour with the last week being a cruise back to Vancouver. Your stories and photos of your entire trip eagerly view, do I. You can find history and greatness in the most unlikely places up there.
Thanks for taking us along.

I love your latest batch of photos. Have you caught sight of Denali? We caught a fuzzy view of it from an upper floor of our Fairbanks hotel for our first view. Denali is notoriously uncooperative with sight seeing tourists.

Did a quick wash of the GW and the dirt came off. And yes, this evening it's dirty again.

I haven't seen Denali yet, though the mountains I have seen are awfully impressive. I'll be going to the National Park on Thursday. Sunny skies are forecast.

BIG NEWS. I'm decided to postpone the Northeast until September. Wait until the leaves turn color. And avoid the tourist/pesky children season. From Seattle I'll do a slow drive down the coast. No ferries. Their schedules don't work out.

I was stationed in Anchorage for 3 years and probably was able to see Denali 5 or 6 times. It is such an awesome sight when the skies are clear. Good luck!!

Well hey then, does that free you up to attend the Ainsworth, BC M&G in June?

Doug, you have made this a wonderful trip for us with your pictures and daily summaries. Outstanding stuff. One of the things I have been impressed by is your packing. I guess you're doing laundry every 3 or 4 days to save space. But then you've got camping gear, rain gear, cold weather gear, etc. WOW!!!

Ride often. Ride far. Ride safe and do much more of both.
Give a man a fish and feed him for a day. Teach him how to surf the GWOF and he won't bother you for weeks, maybe months
I'll be waitin' for you at the end of the road.
If everything had gone as planned, it would not have been an adventure.

Answers:

1) The highlands trip is still on. I have yet to reserve a flight because I didn't know where I was leaving from.

2) The thread about the M&G is long. What are the dates and location? I doubt that I can attend, but who knows?

3) I spent a great deal of time planning the trip. Packing was practiced over and over. In essence, I didn't pack cold weather clothing. I simply layered a lot. It hasn't been unusual to have five layers of clothing on. I carried mostly space age material. Light and compact.

Thanks for taking us along Doug. Hope you have a safe journey home. My other hope is to follow in your footsteps someday. If you go to the tools heading at the top of the page and click on quick links, a calendar link will appear. All the dates for the M&G's are posted there. FYI.
