Unless you're severely distracted by planted fields, you'll be OK in the Upper Midwest. And, Yeah!, there are lots of interesting things to see, especially the beauty of Wisconsin and Minnesota with all the lakes and rivers (that means river valleys full of curves and twisties) but not as grand as the Tetons and Rockies, especially the Canadian Rockies where I'm headed in about 60 days!

You're making the Meet & Greet in Ainsworth Hot Springs, BC, right? June 24-27.

By late June I should be back on the east coast. Maine probably.

I have been following your adventure, albeit loosely, when I have the time to catch up, but I must say that I am totally envious of your trip. Your getting a chance of a lifetime and an adventure that most can only dream about. Of all you are seeing, just think of all you are missing. This vast country is so full of things to do, places to go, etc. I guess you just catch what you can catch and enjoy it as you roll.. Glad you are enjoying your trip, stay safe and thanks for taking us all along with you.!!

I'll stay tuned, looks like mid work week for my schedule but you never know where a person can turn up in the evening...

Looking at your blog and noticed the transportation museum. We have one of those WWI rail cars from France here in Jackson, Mississippi also.

Also see you stayed in Maggie Valley. Hope you had time to see the Wheels Through Time motorcycle museum. All American made motorcycles and they run.

Darn. No, it was closed when I went past. I would have enjoyed that.

Had to catch up on your travels this morning, as I just got home yesterday from the meet & greet in Mead, OK. You're covering some ground alright and I'm still enjoying your reports/pics. Be safe.

I fly back tomorrow to St. Louis to rejoin my GW and continue the drive to Alaska. For those keeping score, to date the Adventure has consumed 8,200 miles and included 12 states. Obviously I'm taking a lot of side trips. My future track includes Minneapolis, Bismarck, Regina, Edmonton, Jasper, Prince George, Dawson Creek. I shall certainly meander off the beaten track until the scarcity of roads becomes a reality. But I expect that my forward progress will improve. I spent 9 days waiting in Florida for the SpaceX launch. That won't happen again.

Thanks for the update! Your adventure is rolling along great!

BTW, when you're passing through the Twin Cities, you'll probably want to go via the northern part of the beltline, I-694. If you feel like a break or some riding companionship for 50-100 miles, I'll buy you lunch/coffee and/or ride with you. I live less than 10 miles northeast of the northeast corner of 694.

I know what you mean about the populous nature of the East. Noticed it a lot on last Fall's trip to the Maggie Valley M&G. Wasn't till I got to Indiana that things started to thin out. It's just from living in the Midwest for 20 years. When I moved back here I checked and at that time Minnesota had 1/4 the population density of North Carolina, where I lived before Minnesota.

Oh, and trust me, you'll notice quite a drop in traffic by the time you get 50 miles northwest of Mpls. And it stays that way for the most part pretty much until you reach Seattle!
