Outback NSW trip

Lady V. and have never been into the outback of Lighting Ridge and central lower Queensland. With great weather for the next 3 days it was time to pack the 1500 and head into the outback.
This is the best time of the year to go in this part of Australia with daytime temps of 75f being the normal. It is a very dry and hot out here. So far this year they have had 3 inches of rain and we are nearly at the end of winter.

Leaving Quirindi with a sunny 58f and strong head winds to Gunnedah. There are no photos of this..............so I will describe it as best as I can. Riding out through Breeza is as flat as a pancake but in the distance in any direction are hills. The land here is used for growing grain and cotton. Out to our right is a smoke haze. It is our winter here but we have not had enough rain to green everything up and so the fires have started early. The closer that we get to Gunnedah the countryside goes to rolling hill and the start of gum trees.

As we are coming into Gunnedah I ask Lady V. if she would like a coffee or.....................to stop into a secondhand shop. She would like to stop at the secondhand shop. And boy did she have a great time in there. A lot of item come home with us.....................so much for packing light.

When all else fails.......... use a hammer!

Just not the same without pics, Mate. But you did a fine job to describe.

Enjoy your time away.

Eric, I looked at your route via Google Maps, Breeza is flat, not very big either. Gunneduh looks like a pretty fair size town. With Google maps they have a street view of your route, so I can just follow you on your ride. Have fun, maybe you should have brought your trailer for "V's" trinkets.

I am sorry for the delay in the ride report. But I am struggling with this night shift thing.

The ride from Gunnedah to Narrabri is a bit closer to the hills but the road goes through the flat area. Now if you were an Aussie and you were looking for Koala's. Knowing were to look and you would have seen them asleep in the trees along here.

At Narrabri we meet a friend for lunch and after lunch it is all new to us.

Now this is now very much out in the outback. So carry some water, without water out here you can quickly get into trouble.

We are going to stay in the wild town of Lightning Ridge.................The camera is out.

I must say that the motel is best described as..........................run down.

In the morning it is time to do a modern hunter gather experience to find some breakfast. Now this place is a bit arty farty.

We did well with the hunter gathering and found a place to have breakfast. But...........................there was a local that was real cheeky and we had to fight him off to have our breakfast before he could get to it.

We didn't stop very long in Lighting Ridge because the roads are so rough out here and this means you can't cover much distance in a day. It is very flat and dry out here.
