Default What is 1st year for 1800?

I many have my 78 Wing sold today. Time to get serious about searching for a "new" one. I have determined that I will not settle for anything less than an 1800. So...when was the first year of their production? Was there any initial engine problems or issues? Is there a year or serial number range to stay away from? Any other gotchas that I might want to look for? I ASSume this is the best time of year (and economy) to make a purchase.

2001 was first year of production. Models 2001-04 had some issues with frame welds and cooling. If the bike was part of the recall the Honda dealer can check the Vin# and verify that all recalls were performed. After 2005 no major problems. If you check the site below you can see what recalls there were on the Wings. You will love the 1800. Ride safe..

Thumbs up

To really appreciate the 1800 you needed to have ridden the 1000 then the 1200 then the 1500 and then you can own an 1800. It is a vast improvement over the 15 in handling and power. But I miss the size of the bags and the trunk of the 15. I just recently bought an '01 and I love it!
Ride Safer,

CMA since '78,
AMA since "85
5th Wing since 78
Caldwell, ID since Nov, '09
and now with the GWRRA
(just for the magazine...)
