Recently pick up 99 GL1500 SE, just started to surge while at an idle.
Any suggestions would be appreciated. If I can't fix myself (plugs etc:) I'll take to shop this week.

Have you checked the choke cable adjustment? When my 97' is choked just above an idle it will surge up and down until I take the choke off completely. Just a thought.

my '93 se had the same problem but when it didn't surge i noticed that it was idling just over 1000rpm. i turned the idle adjustment screw until i got it under 1000rpm and its not surging anymore so far
