: 1500 wont start

1993 1500 SE.

i go out to the shed and cold bike did start the first time and ran for about 10 seconds and died. 2nd try it ran for 2 seconds and dies

NOW, nothing, no fire to the plugs. ??? it turns over fine, headlight is on, neutral light on, radio on, running lights on...

ALL fuses good. NEW battery, BAS (bank angle sensor) is good. What could it be???

YES, the choke is all the way off... <*((><

Bad gas?? No gas?? Sounds like fuel starvation...

plenty of fresh gas. NO spark at the plugs...

There is another fuse/relay panel take the cover off and check the starter relay 30AMP relay about 37.00 bucks. Pulle em all if you have to but I'd check the ignition one first. See if it has any burnt poles if its bad most likely it will, Pull another relay and insert and see if it starts

OK, Check 30 amp fuse, not the problem... Also ignition relay is fine..???

STILL NO SPARK TO THE PLUGS.

Check the kill switch. They have been known to go bad.

In the troubleshooting guide form the service manual, it says check the rotor for tightness as well as the associated connectors and other ignition related components and their connectors. Also check that the engine control unit is funtioning properly. Sorry I can't offer more.

if by ohm meter, what reading should i get?

Not sure about the ohmeter, but we use the Honda diagnostic laptop in the shop. Trike lady is pretty up on electrical related issues, hopefully she's (well, I know she is) smarte than I about this type of thing. I have access to the manuals from my desktop, that's where my limited scope comes from .

thanks budoka,

i tried this.. i turn on the ignition switch, power to positive side of coils. check.

press start button and check negative side of coil.
i get uninterrupted power.? (no spark from plug wire) it's not breaking the circuit..(puzzled look) .. crank sensor ?

Okay, I'm going to provide you with a chart of what to check on the harness side.
Never probe an ECM.
All tests must be done on a 'Cold' bike.
Test the pulse generators. The values are on the chart. They receive their make/break from the 'Trigger Wheel'.

Well, tomorrow turned into a couple of months but, i found the problem.

not out of gas. not a bad battery. "BAD PULSE GENERATOR". one read 448 ohms, one read 000 ohms.

i'm finishing putting the engine covers back on now... But, i do have a problem. lol .
i need a vacum diagram. got 1 vacum line that i cant find where it goes.
Anyone have a spare diagram for 93 1500 i can see?
