I have seen the flat black look on car wheels for years now. Now bikes are being blacked out. No chrome, flat black. I'm just getting old but I don't like the look. Ford is selling them on new Mustangs. Can someone explain it?

Chop showed a cool looking Darth Vader looking bike all flat black.
It was cool in the show room and I've seen a few on the steet with blacked out wheels engine and pipes.

This stealth look is gonna get people killed. This is as crazy as wearing your pants on the ground. I don't get it or know where it all started. I am not against others dressing their ride like they like it, I would just like to understand it. Can someone explain it to this old fart?

My thought exactly on the Stealth Black bike. This is Hondas latest offering to the VTX line -up. Look at the tail light.

Might as well paint a white stripe down the middle to complete the "paved road" look. They can call it " Urban Camouflage".

I am a biker and always on the look out when I am in my truck. How am I going to see that at dawn, dusk or in the day. I would feel much safer at night as at least cagers could see the lights. Oh wait, you pointed that out, it only has a vanity light for a tail light. I don't see that legal in my state.

Can you imagine riding one of those blacked out bikes at night? Little to no lights and then when some one is hit and killed on one they will blame it one a cager.

In this neck of the woods it's hard enough keeping the "gray hairs" aware of bikes (with lights and or loud pipes) let alone trying to be seen in an all blacked out bike. Just not a good idea..... this is only my thoughts.

What tail light??? Do you mean that sliver of red at the bottom. Somebody is going to get killed on a bike like that, not from their own fault but because people won't see them..

It looks like a cross between a Victory Vision, HD Street Glide and a high dollar designer bike (OCC).
Honda, please focus on a new Goldwing. Thank you.

When the owner of this Black Beauty (?) first showed his bike to the forum members one of the veterans launched into him for Steal-thing an already invisible bike, and I mean LAUNCHED into him. The old veteran suffered the wrath of others who came to the owners defense with words of praise and applauses for his " vision ".

You are right re: Victory look.

Could it be a glimse into the future?

It wouldn't cost much to retro these lines onto the existing GL1800 to create a new skin.

Let's see if Bud gets real quiet? hehehehe.

Baskin Robbins 31 Flavors.

Your are right to keep this in the fore front. I am not denying anyone the right to their opinion or do what they want to do with their rides. I am all for 31 flavors.

My question is why is this popular.?

It's Gothic. It's almost Necrophilia. If history does repeat this is the return of the Dark Ages.

Chopin, I think you are right it's the Gothic look. It might be cool on the show room floor, but out on the road, not for me. I got lots of lights on my 93. If somebody it runs into me, It's because they were trying to kill me, not because they couldn't see me,

Here is the test. Do you wear your peak cap with the peak shading your eyes. Do you tuck your shirt tail into your jeans. Is it the first thing you grab to read the paper your glasses. Do you wear protective gear on the bike. Do you ride in built up areas at 100mph. Do you give the finger to anyone that gives you the pips on the road. If the answer is no to these questions, then you are old and what would you know............. This is all a bit of fun on the different views of the young. But on the whole I think our young ones are great and I can make a bit of fun with them and help them see the errors of their ways where it may have a negitive impact on them. There was a time where I use to find it frustrating waiting for these old bugger with their habits and ways but at the same time you knew they had a lot to pass on. Eric

I dont know about a generation gap but black would be my color of choice on a Bike. That said I also would put a ton of chrome on as well as enough lights to light a christmas tree!! That bike is just to bland! Darth Vader would look good on it! He better be holding his light saber high though!!!

To each his own. If a person wants make it easier to become a road ready flat snack, that's their choice!

I like it.... but I wouldn't own it. I agree with Ron, it would certainly look good in a show but not for me :)

But then again, I still wear a belt, my pants fit on my waist, I tie my shoelaces, and prefer conversations and meetings to texting and phone conferences... what do I know??

 Funny, seems as though the folks who were 20 years older than me when I was 16-18 felt the same way.

Actually, I think the correct answer is, like you said, "THE GENERATION GAP"

Isn't that "stealth black" a custom one off job? We had a couple one offs on display at our show too, but it was made very clear that's what they were. I'm not into the 'bar bike' look and that's what that VTX bagger is. I'm soooo over it. am I stepping into the "old guy zone"?

Yep, it sounds like most of us are there already. However, when I was one of the younger ones, I didn't even think about the things that made it safe to ride. I just rode.
I like the "But you didn't see me" FB post. It says a lot.

There's still hope for me I think, since I'm seriously thinking of adding to the stable this spring. Really have the hots for a black '04 Superhawk. Yup, black. So I'm not soooo over it after all.
