Just got an 82 interstate.

Wife and i took it for our first ride and the suspension is rougher than my 81 silverwing. I know it is holding air in both front and back.

Check the air in the front and rear shocks....it may have too much. My '81 gets pretty rough if I go too high, and am riding solo. My rear sets at 45psi, and the fronts at around 14psi. It rides really nice at those settings. Of course, more weight(two-up riding) would require more pressure.
