Hi all,
I live in Minnesota and am considering buying a wing. I haven't ridden a bike in over thirty years or so. As a first time buyer and with the economy I am looking at a bike around a 1982-85 models.

Looking for your wisdom on what to avoid or look for on these years.
Also, what are the differences in an aspencade, interstate or any others out there.

Thanks in advance.

Larry

hello and welcome to GWOF doc, on a 1200 wing ( '84 - '87 ) the stator is the problem if it hasn't been changes or the wireing soldered. on all older wings change the timing belts if the po hasn't

it's the alternator doc, it sits at the back of the motor on all 1000, 1100 and 1200 wings. you can find stators on ebay for around $140. the engine has to be pulled out to change the stator which is why a shop wants sooo much to do the job. timing belts are just old and in need of replacement. if one breaks it will cause the valves to contact a piston more $$$
