I just bought a 2001 Gl1800. It has a cobra exhaust with baffle that is just too loud for my tastes. Someone told me I could probably find someone who would like these pipes and would be willing to exchange. I have no idea how much these pipes are worth or how much stock pipes are worth. I'm taking a road trip in 5 days and would sure love a quieter ride.
Any advice out there on what I can do?
Is this possible?
Where's the best place to find someone?
Are all models of GL1800 pipes interchangeable?
Any technical issues to watch out for?

If any one wants to compare the sounds between cobra and stock, here is an excellent video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5IpXzsp4RVk
I would love to find someone with excellent stock pipes who would like to exchange for $150. New cobra's appear to be around $400. Also, these pipes have the mufflers installed, which I assume can be removed if one desires a louder sound.

If no one responds to your offer, try e-bay, or check out a bike salvage yard. There is a chance that there could be a set of stock pipes there.

it is not pipes, just mufflers.all 1800 mufflers are the same and cost about $950.00 for a new set of stock ones!

what's the difference between a muffler and pipes? I am not very mechanically minded :-(

the pipes stay on the bike and are stock, the mufflers either stock or aftermarket slide on to the exhaust pipes

Hi, I'm sure you havew probably gotten rid or traded your Cobra pipes by now, but thought I'd ask. I'm in Florence, SC and am planning a trip to Greenvile for a local car show at Reedy River Baptist Church, so if by chance you still have them, it would be a great time to exchange.
Thanks.....Charlie

If I had an 18 I'd surely work out a deal they sound good to me. I pulled the turndowns out of my stock 1500 pipes and removed the baffles. Hope I get a similar sound, also I'm going to turn my tips out like old grassburners.
