Gimpy 06-29-2008, 12:41 PM Hello everyone
This past March I traded up to the 1994 GL 1500 from a 1995 600 Shadow. My wife and I are sure happy that we did. We are looking forward to many more years of riding and meeting great people.
AApple 07-02-2008, 10:54 PM Hello from Texas, ya'll!:D
I'm back in the saddle after 25 years or so. Found a really nice '81 Interstate, right color, right price, and just couldn't pass it up. My last ride was a 750 Hondamatic that I really liked, but that's another story.
Glad to be able to find a 'Wing forum that appears to be fairly active.
Looking forward to exploring the site, and seeing what kind of info is out there.
Thanks!
Joel
Leeintn10 07-03-2008, 12:10 AM hi, as my name indicates, i am living in Tenn. probably one of the older riders of goldwings. just turned 68. i have a 85 limited edition with 36 thousand miles on it. got it second hand. Just finished some work on it, did a stupid thing and pulled out with kickstand down and it took me and the bike into a ditch. i ended up with a broken pelvic in two places, bike lost windshield, two mirrows and crushed in the top of the trunk lid on the back, just replaced all of that today. looking forward to getting back on the road again in a few months. glad to be here and hope i meet a lot of nice folks
kc0ocv 07-06-2008, 12:17 AM hello all this is kc0ocv just bought a new 1800 goldwing and thought would say hi. well hi. lol we not much here in colorado so if coming by say hi.
delquattro 07-14-2008, 02:41 PM We've owned a couple 'wings for a few years, now. First, is a '77 with 42k miles, but it was too much of a project. So, I found a nice loaded '88 Yamaha Venture Royale. Rosie preferred the seat of the Goldwing which allowed her a better view, so we found a beaut with 32k miles.
We love the Goldwing even though it's only an Interstate. I don't care for the bling on the Aspencades, but cruise and reverse would really be nice.
I put new Metzlers on the 'wing last fall and they've really been nice riding. We've taken a few rides from Kremmling, CO over Trail Ridge Road to Estes Park which has been a sweet picturesque ride (dozens of pics of Elk.)
Ealier this summer, I rode from Kremmling, CO to my sister's in Utah for a funeral. That was the longest ride I've ever done on a bike and I loved it. There was still the smell of Lilac in the air from our long winter, which added to the open air exerience of riding a bike.
I've just finished re-sealing the gas tank on the '77. In the process of re-assembly and sourcing parts to restore the bike to naked Goldwing status.
That's it in a nutshell. Happy riding!
gates1947 07-23-2008, 10:59 PM Hi all, Just started riding after a 30 year pause. Don`t know I did that. I bought a 2004vtx1300 in Feb and really enjoyed putting 4000 miles on it in 4 months. Finally got the MRS. interested enough to take a few rides with me and we jointly decided that wasn`t a good bike for her comfort. I sold it to my son in law and got 1986Interstate w/60000
miles on it. I have it in the shop now, getting new rubber, tune up, new fluids and making sure I am ready for the road as safe and dependable as possible, I am sure I will enjoy this forum as I know Honda people are great people.. Willard
jbelvisgrace 07-25-2008, 11:27 PM Hi..New to this..Been a Goldwing rider for only 3 months now...first bike..and LOVE to ride..am open to all suggestions and ideas about the "Wings"!! Thanks!
samurphy 08-21-2008, 08:29 AM Hi there, I am new to this forum. However I am not new to Goldwings. I had a real nice GL-1500 1988 modle. I got the bike used with 30K on it. I put another 200K on top of that and would still have the bike if somebody would not have dumped 50 gallons of desil fule on the road. Sad ending for that one, however no injuries. MSF courses do pay off. Now I have a new GL-1800 Nav with preaiun auto. I got it one and a half mounths ago and have 4200 miles on it now. I am also a member of New York IV chapter of the Blueknights. We all do love to ride, and westeran New York provides some very seanice rides. That about the only good thing about New York, But thats for a different foraum. My wife and I are already planning a couple of long rides for next year. Maybe Kentucky, and possabily Texas. Deep Texas. Well nice to meet you all and ride saftely
Easy Does It 08-24-2008, 11:15 AM Well,we just made the switch! My wife and I just bought our first wing,1991 GL1500SE. We both had the Honda VTX, mine was the 1800C and hers was the 1300C. For myself I felt that I had reached the top of the line in crusers and was ready for a change,I really enjoyed the hot rod feel and the loud pipes, very fast. BUT NOW I am already enjoying the luxury of our 1st. wing, the wife feels like a Queen sitting back in total comfort. Glad we made the switch, I'm sure we will upgrade in the model years but for now we thought we would kinda get the feel on our 1991 1500SE. Put on 300 miles on the first day! I always thought I was a little young to have a wing (43) but as I am finding out that the wing is Not just an old mans bike! Anyhow, we are looking foward to all the info and banter that I can share in on this site!!!
Diver9543 08-24-2008, 09:28 PM Hi, not so new rider here. Been riding off and on for years. Latest bikes at a '94 1500SE and a '07 Suzuki V-Storm. Love them both however, prefer the Vee when I am riding alone. The SE is more for 2 up and more comfortable for the little lady. Have a good day and keep the rubber side down.
Jerry
Hi,
Just got my new G/wing yesterday !! Nice -but sure quiet compared 2 my Kaw/ Meanstreak w/ Cobra pipes !!!
The windshield is lowered & still not much brezzze when wearing a leather jacket, Havent figured out a way to keep coool yet - unless i take off the jacket on hot days !?!?!
Found posible solution to the quietness, a cd w/ ALL Bikes & loud pipes playing all the time ?!
Seem like a VERY Smooth & easy handling Bike !!!
Wish Honda had better way of checking the oil though !!!!
What is the problem i heard about front fork bearings going at 3-4000 miles & Honda not covering it ??
Look 4/ward 2 some nice trips w/ this Road warrior !!!!!!!!!!!!!
gerald bohr 09-08-2008, 12:20 PM :)Hi, they call me jerry.I'm 65. Have had a bike of one kind or another most of my driving life. I just bought my first wing. I always avoided one because I thought the seat height was to tall for a short guy. I went to a dealer and tried one on for size. "It fit" I bought an '80 with 35k on the clock. Really different ride. Got. some learning to do. Second day I had it, I laid it down at a stop sign where the side street was uneven. thanks to the internet, I knew how to set her back up. No wittnesses. good thing. Love the ride. I know I'll have questions, Glad I found this forum.Thanks.
The Goldwing is sure easy to ride 4 a large bike--at also almost 65 !!!!
The 2 negitives i've been hearing about is the week front end/ shocks bearings area!?!?
& the air filter replacement/ change (2-3 hrs!!)
Well- guess i'll just ride & enjoy it til these things come up !!!!
GLWingnut 09-11-2008, 12:10 AM Hello all. I am a former GWRRA member, Chapter Director, and La Membership Enhancement Director at the State Level. I live in La and ride an 1984 GL1200A Named "Barn Rescued". I found it in a farmers Barn where it had sat for 6 years. It was so dirty it was a few days before I found it was 2 tone Windberry. After taking it all apart and cleaning and painting it, I have put another 65,000 miles on her. I painted it Pure Mixing White and striped it with Blue and red reflective tape. I painted the inside of all the bags Battle Ship Gray. There are 10 small bullet Blue lights and 12 Amber lights and a few extra Red light on it. All the factory reflector on the bags and truck have been changed to lights. It has a receiver trailer hitch and many little things I have done to her never seen on a wing before. The bike is well lit at night because I used to ride it to work on the night shift.
jhellstr 09-11-2008, 08:50 PM I pick up my new bike in St. Augustine Florida this Saturday. I am 52 years young and plan to keep my CBR 1000 rr but after test driving a goldwing I couldn't resist the new addition. The wife is happy that we can plan some trips on it together because she refused to even consider getting on the CBR and I don't blame her. What a fantastic machine!
The CBR will be restricted to short jaunts.
habdala 09-11-2008, 09:54 PM Hello!
My name is Hassan Abdala, I been riding for 40 years and have owned many bikes, I currently own a BMW 1200GS a Suzuki DR 650 Honda Ruckus and now I just got a new to me used 06 GW with 6K miles, I picked this beauty in NH and drove it to VA and I can't take the grin of my face, just love the power and the confy couch feeling on the road, I can't wait to ride it again.
Raven 09-11-2008, 09:54 PM I just got my '82 Interstate. What a different ride this beast is. I've ridden bikes all my life and a bike was my only transportation for about 10 years. I've ridden a big variety of bikes, lot of sport bikes and lately some cruisers, but this is a whole different beast. Been getting used to it riding to work and plan to take a few road trips soon.
I was riding a friend's cruiser and the girlfriend wasn't very comfortable on the back. This will change things. Anybody else going to be at the Oyster Run in Anacortes WA?
Hi one and all, from the south coast of the UK, Dorset.
want to chat to people from home and away.
to people with the same passion for the wing, trike or bike.
maybe make some friends on the way, the blue trike to your left is my girl, much loved toy...
all the best

smokey109 10-26-2008, 12:53 PM I just inked the deal on a 2008 Wing - I'll take delivery a week from Tuesday. After riding my 04 VTX1300 to Banff this summer and chatting with a lot of wing owners along the way, I decided it was time to move up. The dealer let me take the new bike for a short ride - WOW!!! - this bike puts a smile on one's face:D:D:D
I look forward to a lot of great miles with this bike.
mymotorcyclemechanic 10-30-2008, 06:25 AM The greatest machine Honda makes is now mine and I've decided to design my own goldwing lifestyle along with all of you. Looking forward to learning all the tricks from you riders out there.
Milemaster 11-12-2008, 10:27 PM Well hello everyone! Am excited to talk to you all. Currently riding a mid-size cruiser and thinking about going to a Wing... brother has a new one and he and his wife love it. Looking forward to discussions on Wings and insight on what to look for...
croderick 11-23-2008, 10:49 PM Hi. Just started riding in May, put 5k on an 03 SilverWing. Wanted to move up for 2up riding with wife. Bought an 85 LTD with 85k on the odo. Had been somebodys baby for a while and got sold x2. Now mine!!! Took it out today for maiden voyage. Sweet. Hoping to get cleaned up and out once a month over the winter.

donaldo88 11-25-2008, 11:44 PM Hiatus in my riding career for 27 years, then got back in saddle. Just after getting married, my wife hated being on the back, and I hated her being there, because she couldn't get comfortable with the lean. Scared of suburban Atlanta traffic anyway, I sold the bike. Moved to PA and NH, raised 3 kids, still got the wife, just not trying to get her back on a bike. Last 10 years had a string of various old Hondas, see my Silver vs. Gold post in General Discussion.
BuzzLtyr 12-01-2008, 01:23 PM Hello to all, My wife and I have been riding two up on an 82' Interstate for 4 years now. We are both very busy and struggle to get 3,000 miles a year on the bike. We seem to only do day trips and perhaps the occasional overnight. My wife is considering taking the MF course in the spring. I have ridden various bikes since childhood. My first bike was a 1959 Sears/Puch Moped. Then in 1975 I bought a 74' Kaw 500 triple. Then 3 years later a 71' Yamaha xs650. Then in 80', children came and the motorcycling stopped until 1995 when I bought a 81' Yamaha xs1100 in January sight unseen for $400 bucks. Once I cleaned the grime off it, it turned out to be in pristine condition. New battery and tires and I rode that bike for 8 years. With 88,000 miles and burning oil I sold it for.......you guessed it $400 bucks. We love our 82' Interstate but dream of a 1500 or even 1800. Hope to learn lots about my bike and share some of my knowledge as well.
Thanks for a great forum!!
dave@molleck 12-06-2008, 09:05 PM I joined this forum in hopes of gaining information. After taking 28 years to raise my sons I've gotten back on bikes again. I bought a small yamaha ("83" 500 VX) to get myself back into the saddle again.
Now I'm considering a new wing next summer but before I spend the money I'm gathering as much information as I can. So far the wing is on the top of my list but I'm still looking at the Victory, I've ruled out the harley ultra.
jkgoldwing 12-07-2008, 05:06 AM Greetings! i just purchase my first bike and it is a Goldwing. Though she has some years she only has 34,000.00 miles on her. she has some minor issues but i love the bike. i have lots of questions so hang on! :-)

PiJiL 12-11-2008, 03:35 PM Hi all, Pete from Melbourne Oztraylia..................

BB62RM 12-18-2008, 12:07 AM Hello All,
Considering purchasing a 1984 Aspencade w/22K and seems to be in good shape from the pics,I will do walk thur this weekend. So, should I have any mechanical concerns. Seeing the bike is 20plus old.. I currently have a 1996 G/w I want this one for the wife..
jkgoldwing 12-18-2008, 08:51 AM I am pretty new to these bikes but from what i have read the carbs seem to be a possible issue to look for. (making sure they are jetted and tuned correctly. Other things i have found is checking on brake lines, master cly, etc. I think the model you are looking at has a digital cluster so there are a number of electronic things to look at and make sure they are all working. Good luck...
Greg Baldwin 12-18-2008, 04:02 PM I have a history of motorcycles from cafe style to racing motocross. I had to give up racing because of my back problems. I purchased a 2006 Honda ST1300 because it was the closest thing to a wing I could afford. I went on a few trips and after the last weekend trip my wife told me to get a wing. I don't think she thought I would do it but last Saturday I went to the dealership I always purchase from and made a deal. My wife was out shopping so what could she say? Well the bike was delieverd before she got home so she couldn't change her mind at that time. I have owned it for almost one week and only have been able to move it around in the barn due to the snow outside. I am praying for sun!!!
moparhov 12-21-2008, 02:15 PM Hi all, picked up my 2009 Wing w/Navi, XM,ABS, graduated from my 2004 Harley Dynaglide. This bike is AWESOME! A little apprehensive at first..... 70 mile drive to pick up, biggest bike ever, ride home to still- snow- on-the-ground Palmdale in California bumper to bumper traffic. I couldn't find the turn signals, the horn, and almost ran out of gas! But the ride was great. Now, how do I tell the wife how much it cost?
Flyone 12-21-2008, 09:39 PM Welcome to the Forum from Kansas!:)
Hello, another TN rider checking in from the gl1800rider.com board. My 02 Wing has 86K trouble free miles. Looking hard at the 09 ABS/Airbag model, yellow of course. Guess I will have to change my handle to bc09.
wingsailor 01-20-2009, 02:11 PM Hello from NC. Only been riding for about 3 years. Own/ride a '84 Aspencade (commuting) and '05 GL1800 (touring).
moparhov 01-20-2009, 02:50 PM Hi ! I am just the opposite of you, using the "Wing" as a commuter (100mi) a day as well as the "cage". Have not done touring, as it is hard to get away from family and work. But maybe someday. And to all, I have officially uh, lost the upright status of my 'Wing, (dropped) in my driveway last week:mad:. Luckily, half the landing was on my lawn, so little damaged was caused. The worst part was picking it up, and quickly, before my wife came outside. Embarrassing!:o Take care everyone.
Redneck Dave 01-20-2009, 04:35 PM :)
Redneck Dave here.

mbellino 07-06-2009, 02:18 PM I'm a 43 year rider, but new to "modern" GWs. I used to have a '75 original stock, and it was great. Now I have an '88 1500 with a Motorvation sidecar. I also ride a BMW 1200GS and a Ducati GT1000. I'm enjoying the hack so much it may become my main ride.
C17Flyer 07-06-2009, 03:16 PM Hi all, just acquired a '90 SE with only 14K original on it. Guy really kept it clean. Anyway, moved up from my Suzuki LC1500. Haven't had the chance to really hit the road yet but that's comong soon.
calbigbird 07-07-2009, 02:33 PM Hi all, just thought I would check in for the first time on this site. I have owned a 77, two 84's and currently own a 99 Wing. All have been great bikes. I am planning on selling the 99 sometime next year in favor of a 2010 after I retire. I also have a 75 Norton Commando.
I don't get to ride as much as I would like right now, but that will change with retirement. I started riding motorcycles in 1965 and I believe I have somewhere over a half million miles on two wheels.
Hope to get to know some of you better as time goes by.

shakydoug 07-13-2009, 11:44 PM Hello from Southeast Texas. I have a 2006 Wing w/ Bushtec Turbo 2. Ride daily yearround. Make one good trip a year. 2007 = Sturgis 14 days, 2008 - 6000 miles in 16 days. Seen the Western part of US. 2009 - East Coast in the fall. Just got a Dell Studio and luckily I found this site. Very active with a lot of good info. Keep the shiny side up. Thanks for the great site.
Mutha 07-14-2009, 08:05 PM Greetings all- I currently ride a FJR1300 which I do like... However, most of my riding buds ride full tourers and I could use something a little more comfortable for the long haul: 500+ mile days... I'm 6'2", 34" inseam...
After looking at many different touring bikes, the Wing seems the way to go... A lot of folks have commented on the size of the bike, especially when commuting around town... I've only sat on a Wing, not ridden one yet...
Thoughts???
Thanks
shakydoug 07-15-2009, 06:26 AM Buying my wing was one of my best moves in life, OH I have made many bad ones. As far as in town, once you get the feeel of your wing, you will be scraping pegs downtown. The bike handles like a crotch rocket. On the road, the onle thing wrong, need another gear and a7 gallon tank.
Later,
triker mike 07-16-2009, 01:32 AM I started in 92 with a 86asp then went to a couple of other bikes & now have fallen in love with my 96seRoadsmith . It's a whole new world learnin trikn . velvetrider 07-18-2009, 09:48 AM Hi All,
Well "Black Velvet" (83 GW 1100GL) is back!.. Replacing the head gasket did not stop it from spewing out bellows of steam. Damn I figured I made a mistake. Old machinist suggested I run it for a half hour, "probably a gallon of antifreeze in the exhaust", Surnuf, It cleared out after 25 minutes. Great to be back.. Heading for the Blue Ridge in 2 hours.
Velvetrider.
Preacher 07-20-2009, 09:43 PM I am new to the forum. I am a new Goldwing owner (haven't even taken possesion of the bike yet) I am 33 and the Goldwing is 27 (it is an 82). Good to meet you all and I look forward to lots of fun with the new bike. Also a little background on me. I am married with 2 kids and I pastor a small church in Larimore ND.
BladeRunner 07-21-2009, 07:26 PM I'm new here, I've been riding off & on for 45 yrs. Mostly Japaneese bikes... I recently picked up (3 wks ago) a 1987 Aspencade w/ 93K.
I got it from the second owner who had it since 1993.....As you can tell from the pics in my gallery, he wasn't much on maintanence or cleaning...
He rode it to my place....125km, so I know it runs well, I've got a long road ahead, but so far it's been FUN!:D
I had a 1984 Aspencade in '86 it was a sweet ride.....unfortunately..it went to bike heaven...fortunately I didn't go with it!
I'm just starting to strip and clean; I have totally stripped apart the fairing...I may have to hire a small child ( tiny hands) to help me get all that wiring back together!..
Looking forward to the posts and great advice.....:D

qball68 07-23-2009, 04:49 PM I've had my 86 Aspencade(first wing) for about 4 years now and love it! Just got back from my initiation ride into the IBA. Saddlesore 1000 - 1000 miles in 24 hours - with 10 minutes to spare. Been riding for about 26 years now, mostly crotch rockets and MX bikes(a bit of a speed freak at heart). Still have the YZ250 also. Looking forward to good friends, good advice, and good rides!

snowballs89 08-10-2009, 06:07 AM G'day all, Phil from downunder in Oz here. I'm a newbie to this forum and ride a dark blue 07. This is my second Wing, my first being an 88 1500. Had to replace it when a car driver decided she wanted to be in the lane I was in, so she went there without looking. Wings don't look good after wrapping themselves around a traffic light post. If ever you're down in Australia, look me up and come on out for a barbie.

Welcome to the board from Pennsylvania. I had a 98 Gl1500 SE and just bought a 09 GL1800 base. The 1500 was a great bike but after only 3 months on the 1800 I'm hooked. Enjoy and ride safe.:)

jcshughart 09-22-2009, 08:41 PM Hi, Everyone I just bought a 2005 Wing on eBay last month (14,511 miles). This is the BEST bike I've ever ridden. I'm 57 and have been riding for over 40 years. My last bike was a 98 Honda Shadow ACE (1100cc), which I'm trying to sell. I've wanted a Wing since test riding one at the Honda Hoot in 2003. Like I said the BEST bike I've ever ridden!
fossil92 09-23-2009, 05:28 AM Welcome to all on this page.

budoka 03-17-2010, 01:06 PM Hi Arnie, welcome! Snowballs89 good on ya mate! Wow, 12,000 km in three weeks (7500 mi) ya must have covered almost the whole shebang! Did you do the whole loop from your place to Perth and back?:D
jcshughart 03-17-2010, 09:31 PM Welcome Arnie!! Congrats on your NEW Wing. Enjoy the ride.
whacker 03-17-2010, 10:17 PM Mark Talley "Whacker" here. Been on the site since December. Started riding Wings back in the early 90's, started on a 1000 then jumped up to a 1200 and on to a 1500. Took a 10 year hiatus due to a relocation for work, but there is now a 2000SE in the stable. Have ridden an 1800, love the performance, bells and whistles, but just can't make the move to the 18, the lines and styling of the 1500 make it my favorite. Unless the gods at Honda do something wonderful with that long rumored new wing, "blue" has found her forever home, who knows maybe my grandson will get the opportunity to own PaPa's bike.
Wild Bill VoVMC 03-18-2010, 12:11 PM I am 58 and have ridden bikes most of my life. My first Honda was a 1970 350 that I bought and rode while I was stationed in Thailand. I had the front extended 6 inches, put ape hangers on it with megaphone exhaust. Also put a custom blue gold metallic paint job on it. Total cost for me was $700.00. The 350 was considered a big bike in Thailand and I rode all over. In the year I was there I put over 6000 mi on it. Had a blast.
After that I bought a 1974 750 here in the states and had it till I traded it in for a Harley Soft tail in '76. I have owned Harleys, Suzukis, Yamahas and have always come back to the Honda. I found my current 1980 Interstate and traded a rifle for it. It had not had a lot of cosmetic care, but the engine was well taken care of, regular service etc. I tore the bike completely down, put new seals in the rear shocks, replaced all the fluids and cleaned out the carbs. Bike has 9400 original mi on it and runs like it was new. Can't wait for the early spring up and down weather here in CO to clear up so I can ride as much as I can. Already have a trip to Shreveport planned with the MC first part of June for our National Meeting. In between we plan on probably 4 trips around CO, NB, and UT to visit other Chapters and go to VA nursing homes with them.
Am looking forward to meeting many of the guys on this site.
My motto, Ride Hard, Ride Safe, but Ride till the end.
Welcome to the forum Wild Bill, and thanks for your service. ;)
dsobees 03-20-2010, 06:03 PM Hi all. Just joined today and have lots to learn. I have an 04 Titainium ABS with 15000 miles. Just added Kruy highway pegs, luggage rake and Back-off brake light module. 12v power to left pocket and another on panel for GPS. Have hand-wings, foot-wings and leg wings to mount yet. Just watch Murray State's Loss to Butler in NCAA Tourney. Damn.
Big Daddy Goldwing 03-20-2010, 11:13 PM I've been riding dirt bikes and motorcycles of some sort since I was 14 years old. I've always dreamed of owning a Goldwing and my wife just bought me one for our 25th wedding anniversary. I have a 1984 GL1200 Interstate and it is in great condition. Does anyone have any tips for me related to this model? Thanks.

snobuilder 03-21-2010, 10:34 PM Hi guys, just signed up in hopes of finding some tech help for my 1988 wing that I have owned for about 10 years.
I am an occasional rider logging in about 1500 miles a year but hope to increase that total in the future. I haven't really looked around the site yet but will check it out,....
I am an avid sledder and have been on many good sites that are very helpful in answering fix-it/tune-it type questions.
wingman6101 03-25-2010, 06:55 AM Hi Everyone;
I just came onboard and looking forward to talking to all you fellow Goldwing riders out there. I ride an 07 GL1800 Navy Blue, my first wing. It is by far the best motorcycle I have ever owned. My wife and I are GWRRA chapter directors here in OKC and are very active with all Oklahoma chapter goldwing members. I am a retired motorcycle service technician and motorcycling is my number one hobby. Hope to see you someday on the open highways of America.
DVRN4 03-25-2010, 12:33 PM Does anyone know of a free download for a 2010 Goldwing service manual. I am mostly interested in learning how to remove the fairings on the bad boy. Thank you.
Roadrider 03-25-2010, 09:56 PM Just sign on and I am riding a 2008 Goldwing GL1800 that I traded my 2007 Valcan Classic 1600 and all I can say is "Mind to the wheels and road smooth".

Burro 03-28-2010, 09:52 PM Hi. I have a 2006 Goldwing and will be making a trip with my son in July. We'll be going from NJ to Wellsboro PA (Grand Canon, PA) from there to Niagra Falls. Then up around Lake Ontario on the Canadian side to Montreal. Then down to Ft. Ticonderoga, NY, and on the last leg back to NJ. We'll be doing this between 7/1 and 7/6. Need recommendations for reasonably priced eateries, and hotels/motels along the route. Any assistance sincerely appreciated. (BTW, he's riding at 1500 Kawaski Vulcan) Best, Burro:

If I had made the trip myself I could tell you from experience. In lieu of that I can only offer you this web site that promotes motorcycling in PA. If there is anything helpful there I'll feel useful to you The link : http://www.pa-mag.com/2009/04/15/intro-to-motorcycle-touring-in-pa/
cevans 03-31-2010, 10:46 AM I previously owned a 1980 GL1100 which I sold when I acquired a Shadow. Missed the Wing too much, so I just purchased a 1984 GL1200 Interstate. Only 24K miles. Fork seals, carb cleaning, new gas, speedometer gear grease clean-up, fluid checks, and she's ready for the road, and the bike is cosmetically in great shape.
cevans with new "Old Iron".

Donald Lang 04-01-2010, 12:20 PM Hi fellow Wingers,
I am 52 years old and first had a motorcycle at 22; it being a Honda 250. Rode it for just a short time and sold it.Then at 36 I bought a used 1978 Goldwing and rode it for about 6 months.A good freind of mine got killed in a motorcycle accident involving some deer.I decided to give my bike up.
Did not ride again until last year when I purchased a 1984 Goldwing Aspencade;mainly because a lot of my freinds were riding and I felt left out.
I am very much hooked now and canot imagine life without riding. It is a great stress release for me.I love the relationships that have developed with my riding. Its a great way to make new freinds.
I am married and have 2 boys;one ten and one eight. My wife is disabled and can not ride with me which is a disappointment. My ten year old loves riding with me.My eight rides some but is a little intiminated by it.
I am a regional sales manager for a manufactuer;selling a specialty product to the building industry.
I am a member of several forums;but because of the members this by far my favorite.I very much feel at home here.
I wish all the members of this site many fun hours of riding and it is great being part of this!

twostrokes48 12-24-2010, 10:19 AM Hello to all,
A little about me and my adventures with bikes. First of all, I'm 63 and have had bikes since I was 18. There was a period of about 10 years when due to a major back injury I was without because I could not ride.
I started riding in the Philippines in 1966 with a 90cc honda. Later moved up to a 305 superhawk. When back in the states I got the Yamaha RD350, one of the fasted bikes for the first quarter mile back in those days. A screamin twostroke. That is where I got my handle which was used in the CB days (as in radio CB not honda CB's) Back to the Philippines, I then sold the 350, and got my CB750k4, brand new. Was a monster bike in the Philippines rode all over the island of Luzon, rode tip to tip.
When I returned to the states in '75, I wanted the new Goldwing which I had only seen pictures of and read up what I could find. Well it turned out they were not yet available. I was able to see one in a dealer in San Diego as they brought one in special for a contest put on by a radio station (KCBQ) and the dealer. I had been up the coast as far as North LA and was told by all dealers it would be another few months before they had them available. Well, I am a determined person. I went back to the dealer in San Diego on the day of the ticket drawing for the contest bike, which by the way had a beautiful custom paint job on it. It turns out the contest was rigged and some big car dealer owner from AZ. won the bike. Yea, right. ...Anyway, after all the hoop-da-la was over, the winner and the Honda dealer manager were talking. I walked over and said, something like, "I don't care what games are being played with the contest, but I want that bike. How much?"... The manager ask if I was serious which to that I said yes, give me a price. He went to his office and a few minutes later came back and said how does $2250 sound?...I bought the bike on the spot. Anyway that's my story on how I had the very first Goldwing ever to touch the road as far as I can tell as it was about 3-4 months before the dealers ever got them. Would still have it except it was stolen in 1988. It took me awhle but back on a wing in 2005 when I got the 84 Aspy. I know this is a long post, but I love telling that story of how I got the First Wing....
P.S. Had a few other bikes not in my sig, but there were just too many to list them all.
budoka 12-24-2010, 10:53 AM Another late comer to this thread (really doesn't do much for my resume does it?) but better late than never right? I'm 53,and have been riding Wings since '84: 1st one was a Wineberry Interstate;
2nd was a '91 1500 in wineberry that eventually became a Lehmann trike; and now my '09 with all the bells & whistles. Other Hondas have been a 200 Twinstar (got that for the Mrs to learn on), a 400 Hawk, a '75 CB750k, '82 750c, '85 VF500, '07 ST1300.
For the past 4 years I've been the sales manager at a Honda/Polaris dealership in North Central Alberta, and love what I call work. Grew up in the grocery retail business and ran a supermarket for 20 years (meat cutter by trade), and have worked in golf course operations, oilfield supply, and aviation. Both my wife and I love riding (she is my co-pilot since she didn't care for riding her own) and snowmobiling. We both teach martial arts, and I hold a commercial pilot's license and have a sweet C-172 to buzz around in.
jimsimmons77 12-24-2010, 11:01 AM Hope everyone has a great xmas and santa brings you lots of crome.
Merry christmas...........

Just thought I'd stop by and say MERRY CHRISTMAS to you and the best of the holiday season. Haven't forgotten my friends on this site but its been awhile. We're using the winter season to read through Motorcycle travel books and decide on our next annual trip in July, going State side again into the desert and Crater Lake Oregon being one of the destinations. May take the coast as well to San Fransico to see how much its changed since 1965 after my discharge from the Navy (Veteran). The snow is falling the bike is tucked away nicely for its winter nap and retirement is good.
All the best to everyone on the site, life is good.

toyfarm 12-24-2010, 04:05 PM I too wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and a wonderful New Year. I am hoping everyone a very safe 2011.

GolfWinger 01-17-2011, 10:36 PM Hello out there!
My name is Dan I own an 07 Wing. Love it, there is actually no other bike I will ever own. I have had several other types of bikes but have been sold on the Wing since a buddy let me ride his. I went from a VTX to the Wing and do not regret it at all. Honda is supreme.
Anyway how many golfers are out there? Do you go to tournaments? Would a goldwing golf tournament appeal to you?
I work at a Golf Course part time and would like to sponsor a tournament for Wingers only.
Let me know your thoughts.

rigginray6 01-18-2011, 05:04 AM Welcome from Vermont! I do not golf only due to the fact it would cut into my riding and fishing time!!
Hey all. Got my 2010 Wing Friday. WOW awesome ride. Traded my 06 Yamaha Royal Star Midnight Venture in on it. What a difference. Wife loves it also. Smooooth all around. Got lots of goodies coming for it. Ordered back rest from Utopia last night. Looking forward to many years together. Live in Florida, Port St. Lucie to be exact. Rode the dragon in october on the venture. Can't wait to go back on the wing. Look forward to chatting with you all.

IronLou 01-31-2011, 09:28 AM Hi all. Lou from Niagara Falls, NY (another Niagara Falls is just across the border in Canada). Last spring I traded my VTX1800R and 750 Shadow Aero for the 2010 gl1800 audio/navi/comfort/abs, in red. That VTX was a great bike and I hated to let it go. The Aero I bought for my wife so she could ride along instead of on the back. Two knee surgeries later she no longer felt comfortable on it and suggested I trade both bikes in for the Goldwing I was always talking about. I don't remember the rest of what she said because I was running out the door to get to the dealer before he closed that day. I'm happy, she's happy, my kids love it.
I make my living as a Union Ironworker. The best way to describe that is it's the people who put up the steel skyscrapers, although there is a lot more to it than that. I spend a lot of time outdoors and enjoy a little bit of traveling, sometimes taking the bike to work. It is a challenge storing tools on a motorcycle so I usually only take it when I travel light, different jobs requiring different tools. Got a lot of friends in the Harley group that are real impressed with the Wing. They can't believe all the features on the bike. I got to say I'm impressed too. Can't wait for the snow to melt so I can get back out.
LarryinSeattle 02-06-2011, 07:26 PM Late to the party. I have been posting for awhile here and never read this thread..... so here I am.
I like bicycles and motorcycles. My most current project is adding a 35 cc motor to a bicycle. golden eagle bike engines if anyone is interested in a machine that gets 250 mpg, goes 35 mph and will last 50,000 miles.
catch24 02-09-2011, 05:47 PM Hello guys and gals thanks for having me. Live in the Hawkeye state riding a 92' GW. Been riding goldwings on and off since I was 16. Best bikes ever made!!!!

yogibear1100 03-28-2011, 02:27 AM Hello everyone. Mark here, I am 55 years young. rode dirt when i was younger, till it cost more to get me ready, than the bike. So i gave it up and started to flag dirt bikes. I went farther than most riders did, all the way to the semi finals,ONLY 3 in the US. Never forgot that day. First road bike was a 77 750 Yamaha, that my wife wanted me to keep when we got married, but i sold it. Way gas was going i bought a 82 GW to ride to work (50 mile round trip) BUT i wanted something with a radio. SO i found a deal on a 2000 GW 1500,and bought it. just waiting for some good weather so i can ride it home. ride safe, ride smart
willmax 04-03-2011, 07:16 PM Hello Wingers: I'm 58 and had never ridden a bike until 2006 when I bought a pair of 2005 Kymco 50's for my wife and myself to tool around town. It wasn't very long before I wanted something that would go faster than 45 mph and farther than the local coffee shop, so in 2008 I bought a 2006 VTX 1300 for myself and a 2007 Suzuki Burgman 650 for the bride. In 2009 I bought my 2005 Gl1800 so we could take some longer road trips two-up. I'm still very much a new rider and learning by the day; man do I love the Wing! Play in tennis leagues, enjoy fishing, hunting, and traveling. We've taken a few overnight trips so far, but haven't made it beyond the boarders of Texas, Oklahoma & Arkansas to date. Look forward to learning from the members on the forum and hopefully having the chance to meet and ride with same.
chapmcc 04-19-2011, 10:29 PM Hello, I don't have a wing yet, I am looking to buy a older Wing. I ride a Kaw V800. I looking forward to getting my wife out on a bike and riding. God Bless
newtowings 04-19-2011, 11:10 PM Greetings fellow riders! Spring is trying hard to get here in the north country but old man winter wants to dump more snow on us tonight. I got the wing out of storage a couple of weeks ago, gave it some fresh oil and a good pre trip inspection and actually got in a 100 mile ride last Tuesday. I've been enjoying reading some posts here on the site and one of these days I might try posting some pictures of my ride. I want to wish all riders a safe riding season this year. Maybe our paths will cross on one of the trips I plan on taking over the summer. God Bless!
noeleo 04-27-2011, 05:06 PM Newbie to this forum, and to my "OldWing". Purchased it in August 2010 and had an even 60000 on the clock. Now has 64000, and am loving every ride. Even those just going to/from work.
Just finished a fork rebuild and will try my hand at the rear shocks. While it is raining here (YUCK), I might even try the timing belts. Don't know about the mileage on them. PO didn't know either.
Guys and gals-RIDE SAFE!!!

Two Wheel Wing 04-28-2011, 01:24 PM Hi all, Just joined today and decided to become a Life Member and I have a 1990 Goldwing GL1500 with 68000 miles on her. This is my first motorcycle since I was 17. I had a HD 1958 that I bought for 90.00 dollars and it blew up on my way home that same day. So I am here to try it again some 36 years later. I look forward to learning a lot about my 1990 Wing and getting to know some of you.
Welcome to the GWOF from Pennsylvania and congrats on your new 2u Wing. Nice folks on here. Ride safe and enjoy the site..
Two Wheel Wing 04-28-2011, 01:25 PM Newbie to this forum, and to my "OldWing".
Welcome to the forum from Pa. What year is your wing? Ride safe and enjoy the site..

You're not the only one waiting for the rain to stop around these parts. I got my bike ready to ride over the weekend and it has not stopped raining since. I'm sure it's much worse in the mid-section of the US with all the flooding.
