I'm new to this forum and want to say hello. I ride a 2008 wing that I have mixed feelings about. Some days I love the goldwing others I hate it. Oh well! such is life. Anyway hi everyone.

At 5'8" and almost being 65 I find the goldwing very hard to handle at slow speeds and trying to maneuver in places like shopping center parking lots, also riding two-up. Once up to speed it rides like a dream. Like I said mixed feelings.

Welcome to the GWO forums, calmonk1!
The 'Wing can be a little tougher at slower speeds, for sure, but....practice makes it better. 2-up riding requires cooperation, too. I always tell Mama "No sudden moves, if I lean you lean, and don't slap me like you do in the car..." LOL!
I rode a "nekkid" "wing back when they first came out in '75. It was simply too big a bike for me then, so I went to a smaller 750. I only weighed about 145lbs at the time. I've put on a few pounds since then, and now the Goldwing isn't such a handful for me. I bought the '81 IS last June, and I've gotten fairly comfortable on it since then, so parking lots, or Mama on the back don't pose as much of a problem as they did then.
Keep on riding, and have fun!

i understand that two up riding totally. i rode my neice on my 1500. the ride was great but like you said maneuvering at slow speeds and backing up made me wish i had taken the 1200
