This doesn't fall under recent rides since it hasn't happened yet however I plotted out the trip for next year if anyone is interested. Maybe we can ride a few miles together 9000+ in all.

If you have windows xp, right click on the original file, then go to properties, then click on advanced, then put a check mark in compress contents to save disk space. That should do it. Linden

Sounds like a plan Linden. I think it would be cool  to ride a bit with all the guys on the site.

Seattle just happens to be somwhere wife wants to go. Do the tourist stuff. You know Needle, Underground Seatlle yada yada. If you happen to know anything else that is cool let me know.

So where do I sign up..

Bill,
I’m new to the group but live in central Mississippi where you will be passing by. I’ve worked all over the south but mostly in Mississippi and Louisiana. If you need any advice on the area or help along the way let me know. The GWRRA groups in Mississippi are very active and always willing to help a traveler. Is that the Natchez Trace Parkway from Tennessee to Mississippi? The Vicksburg military park is a great place to visit. Very nice loop ride through the park, be sure to visit the USS Cairo exhibit.

Mark, thanks for the offer of info I may take you up on it. Yes, we will be riding a part of the Natchez & we planned on the loop ride in Vicksburg, I drive my wife crazy with Civil War stuff, or The War of Northern Agression :) whichever you prefer. I did not know of USS Cairo, I may check it out. We plan on heading down 61 through Natchez to Baton Rouge. Any thoughts?

Bill,
I’ve visited most of the Civil War sites in the west, but not many in the eastern theater. You will be passing close to Shiloh which is a good park but if your wife is like mine there is a limit to how much you can see (she will put up with) at one time.
Sad to say, I have not been down Hwy 61 for a while. It should be a very nice ride but will get very busy at Baton Rouge. I would suggest you take the ferry across the river at St. Francisville then the New River Road (415) down to 190 and into Baton Rouge or to I-10.

I see your route through Texas is basicly I-10. This will get it done but your missing some of the best riding in Texas. I would reccomend when you get to San Antoino following 16 to Medina, then 337 through Vanderpool , Leaky to Camp Wood. Then follow 55 to 277 north. This will put you back on I-10 at Sonora. Check out the Caverns of Sonora while there beautiful. Let me know if you need a tour guide though this area it could be planned. email kenny_54@ymail.com

Thanks for the info & offer Ken. You're right about the route & unfortunately I'm doing the same in other states as well. We have to cover a little over 9,000 miles in 4 weeks which is going to be a stretch, coupled with site seeing. Our plan is to do our trip & than following years fly out to any areas that we really liked & rent a bike & really see the places.

I like it. Any lines (routes) on a map across 3 states are good so this is really really good. I'm not to crazy about the Texas segment. You will get the hill country but the rest is not much of a view and tedious.

Why not come north a bit and leave Vicksburg going to southern Arkansas, to bottom of the Ozarks headed for Mena, Ark. There ride the Talamena drive over to Talinin, Oklahoma. Then across southern Oklahoma to the panhandle of Texas into NM. Come across the rockies at Cloudcroft past White Sands and then to Las Cruces New Mexico and on 10 to Arizona. 10 isnt much either but you'll need it as an expedient. I think you will need about 30 days and that equals 300 miles a day. There, my 2 cents. Enjoy!

If you keep to your plan consider heading south from Stockton, Texas and drop down to see Big Bend Park. It is one of the great rides.
My longest ride was 5000 Miles. My dream ride is a perimeter ride around the USA.

bill, Thanks for input I considered northern route & still may go that way but Wife & I really wanted to see San Antonio so that's where the sticklier is. Maybe if we talk ourselves out of that we'll decide to alter the route.

I'm sure that this trip is going to change right up to the time we climb on the bike. Probably while we're on the road as well.:D

Don't know however, 1 thing to keep in mind is you still have to send your bike back home.

Much easier to rent here in the States. Good luck if you make the trip. In my area near Boston, you would be looking at about $125 a day for renting a Wing.

125 a day sounds about right. It costs more than it should for sure, Be sure to get full coverage ins.
