I am considering adding foglights to my 08 goldwing. Hondaline shows
2 different kinds, and substantial price differences. Does anyone have any pros/cons or info?
After searching all day long I have come across clear lens and blue
lens kits, Halogen and led aftermarket kits.
Just wondering if anyone has had any luck with one or the other?

Well, I too received foglights from Santa.
I got the show chrome halogens, and they were easy to install and
they light up the dark very well.

I just bought a new 2010 goldwing and had the halogen fog lights installed and as far as I am concerned for the money, they work great. Looks great to others riding with me. Don't know if led's are worth it or not, dealer tried to get me to buy them but i have halogens on every vehicle I have and never had any complaints so far... Just My humble opinion.

I went the other way. When I bought my 09 I had the LED's installed. I thought they showed up better in the dayhlight and I liked the spread pattern of the LED's. Not having to replace the bulbs as frequently is a plus too. JMHO also.

I don't have the driving/fog lights on my Wing yet, and I am looking at the led's, but something to consider here. If you go with the Hondaline lights (or any other accessory on new bikes for that matter) and have it installed by your dealer, the accessories are covered by your OEM warranty. Obviously you can't do this a long time after the purchase date, but talk to your dealer and just see what he can do.

... Howdy ... You Will Get Much Better Illumination With Halogens ... And When A Diode In The Led Burns Out It Looks Kinda Funky ... My Choice Halogen ... Happy Trails ...

Something I just picked up from another forum. It does depend on what you're after as to which is best for you. Like Ronzilla says, you get better light for you to see with out of halogens, but you'll get better recognition out of LED's from the other person's aspect. That's why all the emergency/enforcement vehicles are using LED's on their flashers and light bars now. They show up from much farther away in virtually all conditions.

I plan to add the driving lights to my GL18 and i'm leaning towards the halogen bulbs. The primary reason is that I want my driving lights to be the same color as my factory headlights. Would you guys agree that the halogen bulbs look more like the factory headlights compared to the LED? Do the LEDs have a blue look to them, even though they have a clear lens?

I bought halogens on the internet and I had the dealer install them. I like them and they light up very well. I could not imagine that paying the extra digits for LED's would make the fog lights anymore brighter, or that they would make a significant difference, from anyone's perspective. I personally would not pay the extra bucks for the newer technology when after all, your headlights are halogens. My mechanic is replacing a fog light from someone's Wing that had the lens broken. He had to order another single unit for about fifty dollars or so. My next purchase will be the headlight protectors, fog light protectors and belly pan.

I got a 2010 that I haven't taken delivery of yet (too much snow) but I ordered the Honda halogens for the fog lights, cause I wanted them installed before the spring rush. I have seen them on at the dealer when I am in drooling :( but I think the halogens will work just fine. One thing though...I was talking to the mechanic that installed them and he said that the Honda ones are already prewired from the factory so that they are a snap to install (relative term I'm sure). I did like how the switch had a place in the panel all set, and the switch looks like it came from the factory that way. I think you should get the halogens, and save the rest of the money for a trip, but get the Honda ones, cause they look factory installed.

I keep hearing about debris knocking out the foglights. Hince the covers trying to protect them. Replacement of a halogen won't bust the bank and the light color will match the headlights.

Mike as you can tell from all the feed back there are a lot of points of view so I ll just give you some of the facts
1 halogins have a higher LUMS

2 LED's Have a hotter light (as is evident from the blue /white light

3 LED's use less Amps

my personal favorite lights are the OFF road lights I installed on the wing--- they are 100,000 candle power each --if you want to see a photo of them just email me and I ll send you photos of them ( I dont know how to post photos on theis site) they really reach down the road and they give the bike a unique profile at knight --cars and trucks give you plenty of room

Well I was shopping e-bay for halogen fog lights Monday evening. I just won an auction from a honda dealer in Arizona for a set of Honda Brand name LED fog lights part #08V31-MCA-100D for non air bag eguipped Wings. Get this $168.08 with FREE shipping. I like em at that price, but I still wouldn't buy them for full retail. Can't wait to get them in and see if I can follow the directions or not.

I've got the Honda LED's on my bike and I love them. Make you a lot more visible. Had mine put on by the dealer when I bought it but should be easy to install. Good luck..
